My horse is now kept with donkeys and I’m concerned about lung worm. How common is it in horses that are kept with donkeys? What dewormer would be most effective against Lungworm? I’ve done a Google search but nothing really comes up for horses. Any advice would be appreciated!
From everything I’ve read, ivermectin is most effective. If you utilize it for the horses and donkeys, supposedly you shouldn’t have issues with lungworms.
Ivermectin. The donkeys can be tested for it, but usually just ensure they are properly wormed with ivermectin, and the horse with the donkeys as well. If you are unsure if donkeys are wormed or cannot control that, keep your horse up to date on ivermectin wormer. I have had a vet recommend treating lungworm in a horse with a round of ivermectin, then following up with another round (dose) of it in two weeks to eliminate.
