Lusitano Registries

Forgive my ignorance, I seek enlightenment! I am just starting to look at Lusitanos and see that some of them are registered with foreign registries, such as AMCCL. Would they be eligible for IAHLA? I searched their websites but found nothing. Can someone explain Lusitano registries to a dummy? Grateful thanks!

I’m sure someone here knows more than I do, but if the horse has ANCCE or APSL papers, they can be registered with IALHA too. If they have papers from another foreign registry, you should check with IALHA to see if they will accept the horse.

I believe that the horse needs APSL papers (or ANCCE in the case of a P.R.E.) to be registered with IALHA.

If the horse only belongs to a foreign registry such as Mexican or Brazilian and neither parent is APSL, then I think that the horse is not able to be registered with the IALHA.

However, I don’t know much about the IALHA or their purpose, so I’d just reach out and ask.

Sections 26 and 27 outline the requirements for the proof of parentage - they do accept non-APSL/PRE horses, but there must be DNA proof of purebred parentage. They also register half Andalusians/Lusitanos - so even if you can only verify one parent, you can still get your horse registered with them.
