I have an older cat with FHV. She has chronic goopy eyes and a crusty nose. I’ve heard lysine supplements help but then I read that some studies show they had no effect. What is your experience? I’d like to hear from our resident vets as to their opinion.
The general consensus is that lysine supplementation is relatively ineffective.
Followup studies to the original trials did not show much benefit.

I have an FHV cat and lysine is not helping. My vet prescribed famciclovir for when she has an issue with her eyes. I give it for 2 weeks per episode. It works well.
