Maas Hell Stallions Sold to P.S.

Just heard that P. Shockemohle has purchased the stallions of Stall Hell and that he will move them from Holstein to his place.

This is a sad day for Mrs. Hell as she really loved those stallions.

the good news is that the semen will be easy to get

This will mean a new day for us!

It will be nice to have those fantastic stallions more readily available. I am sure the sale is bittersweet as it is sad to sell, but I doubt they were sold cheaply.

Do you think Wendy will try to sue PS or JY, or all the mare owners who buy semen from them?

haha. Ove wanted to give us Calido semen to sell in October. I was like “hell no” let someone else deal with Wendy. Comes with too much baggage

Great news for US breeders

So sorry for Mrs Hell but…

Now I have to re-think my “baby-daddy” options. This is great news for us. Anyone know how soon they will be available?

Agree it is very good news for NA breeders!

Bittersweet…

On one hand, it is great that the bloodlines of Maas Hell are made more available.

On the other, maybe not.

For me, personally, it is sad to see the product of program such as Maas Hell to be sold into a “factory farm” like PS. I’m not saying PS does not know what he is doing! But I was taught a couple decades ago that oral tradition and knowledge was being lost. And to a very great extent this is what Holstein gives us. I am sort of sad because to me this is not Holstein. But my father was a historian so maybe I am just weird about stuff like this.

Carry on…

I have to agree with you SueL. I don’t mean to state anything bad about PS. There is just such a long a rooted history surrounding Stall Hell and their stallions. It is sad to hear that it is over. It once stood as state stud for Holstein before Elmshorn. I wish Magdalene Hell and her family well, and look forward to hearing more about those stallions, especially Calido and Singulord Joter. On to a new era…

Couldn’t agree more but things were out of her control. She’s an elderly lady who got put into ruin by the former manager.

Also , P.S. seems bound and determined to be that “factory”. He appears to be able to buy about anything he wants , but out of the thousands of horses he owns and breeds , where are they ? I don’t ever see him listed as the breeder of a top competition horse. I personally think he’s missing some of that oral tradition.

It is always sad to see the passing of era.
I, for one, am glad that the semen is going to be carried by a reputable and reliable agent here in the U.S. (Judy Y. has confirmed that semen will be available later this year).
I know there are some people here who are not Paul S. fans, but wouldn’t it just be a little bit nice to be able to go on the horse shopping spree he’s been on lately

The other positive here is that frozen coming from PS that YJ carries is reliable.

Excellent news!

I guess the saddest news is for the stallions if they have to be moved -I hope they have a stress free transition to new lodgings, handlers and management.
