Maclay Final 2020

It looks like there will be more than 250 entries in the class tomorrow. I believe they relaxed the qualifying procedures this year due to Covid. The free live stream should be on nhs.org tomorrow, and according to the schedule I saw, the class starts at 6 AM. I don’t see an order of go posted yet, but here is the list of entries. Good luck to all!

It is also supposed to be on USEF Network.

I’m confused. My read of the prize list and qualifying specs was that if there were more than 175 entrants by Wednesday, they would adjust the warm up to a qualifying round, but it doesn’t look like that happened and there are some 260-odd kids. Did I read the prize list incorrectly? Lots of post-adds? Outdated info?

It’s going to pour buckets tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to spending the day with USEF Network! 6AM breakfast will be waffles with almond butter and cinnamon apples and a side of bacon. You are all welcome to join me.

Thank you for sharing!

I did not know about the history of the oxer  I suspect fence 5 is going to inspire some bright eyes and bushy tails tomorrow, depending on placement it looks like it could present an optical illusion.

I am planning to watch the first 90 minutes or so before I attend a different show in person. Horse people- we’re crazy.

Somehow I doubt that the people attending this show are abiding by this plea https://govstatus.egov.com/ky-travel-advisory from Kentucky Health officials, but one can dream…

I read the same thing. My guess is the qualifying round was scrapped with the COVID/revised qualifying situation, though I didn’t see that written out in the revised specs either.

Fence 5 looks like it will be a real test and potentially game changer. I really hope he decides to set up fence 9 as a hogs back with higher brush in the middle and lower rails on either side. Looks like it will be a nice, technical course of jumps!

I want to come to your place for breakfast! Sounds delicious!

Argh I’m busy and sleeping, hopefully some FB pages will post clips!!

I can’t tell if this is a scope test for the horses or a track test for the riders. 10 in, I think it’s a little bit of both. Would love to see how these lines measure.

Bobby said the one strides would be 27ft. No room for inaccuracy.

Will we get standby lists at the breaks? This is a beast of a course - certainly going to help separate the cream of the crop out of a huge field.

Yes, that’s a question coming out of those turns! You have to be sitting on a moose to ride one of those out of the diagonal- you really must have your horse’s haunches engaged to fire up the stride, poker-straight.

Yup, you can see that issue coming as people cut the turn and don’t get straight to that combination. I’m like oh yeah, you’re in a mess. Track, track, track, track, track.

How was Elli Yeager’s first round? I just started watching.

Outside shoulder, outside shoulder, outside shoulder, and line up those hocks.

And shorten your reins, everyone (me included. Perpetually.)

Flowing and well measured in the first three quarters of the trip. In the last line, she was a little close in to the front of the one stride, and kept flowing forward and had the last fence down. Unfortunately I think she didn’t pass the test of the last line and the last fence and I wouldn’t have her back. :frowning:
