I will never understand why they ask for these things when they have no intention of ever holding them to it. You don’t hand gallop, then you didn’t complete the test as asked. How would people feel if they placed riders who didn’t counter canter when asked?

I’m hearing two numbers, then 36, 99, and 108 to test.

I think they just made a trot fence so I’d say we’re testing.
Based on current activity in the ring, I’m guessing there’s a test coming.

Agreed on your sentiments on the important of doing what is asked for. But I thought he did hand gallop - it was just reserved. As opposed to others that did not hand gallop at all.

I agree. I saw a change in pace. I didn’t think the change was a good demonstration of the movement called for, but an attempt was made.
I would rather see that than a hand gallop that then shifts to pulling on the reins 10 steps away, returning to a working canter. That’s because it at least demonstrates consistency, rather than executing the movement and then bailing out of it. If you’re 10 steps out, you still have choices and you should make them. If your choice is to pull on the reins instead of make them, you need to go out in an open field and practice some more.
Testing in this order:
102 - Sophee
36 - Gigi
99 - Taylor
108 - Dominic
Test:
Walk in, canter jump 4, canter jump 5, trot 6, canter 8c, canter 9, trot 10, hand gallop 12, walk out of the ring.
As someone who is not, and never has been, good at trot jumps, this test would make me a very sad kid :lol:
