Wow, talk about perseverance. Good for her!

I remember there being a lot of Quimby fans on this thread last fall, so I thought I’d drop this here!

Thanks!!! He’s a lovely horse.

Since I also remember there being some Finnick love on this thread… Zayna Rizvi just announced his retirement in an Instagram post.

Here’s to a long, happy retirement for an absolute legend in the equitation.

Aww, sweet. It’s always nice to see the great horses get the credit they deserve. I wonder where he will be retired.

Aw….did he get injured?

It doesn’t sound like it? He’s coming 16 and has had a pretty heavy career at 3’6”. He may just be ready to step away from the show ring.

Horses like Class Action or even Sunman have gone until they were 19/20. I don’t know that I’d say retirement at 16 is entirely normal

I never said it was normal. I said that this individual horse may have been ready to step away from the show ring. Without knowing his history, maintenance needs, or if he’s dealing with an injury, it’s impossible to speculate on why he’s been retired.

And really, what difference does it make?

Agreed. Why can’t we just applaud his people for giving a very successful horse a well earned retirement?

Not every horse is willing or able to continue competing at such a demanding level until 19 or 20.

I hope he’s not injured and I hope he has a long and happy retirement doing whatever he pleases with a congenial group of friends, the same as I wish for all of our horses. I hope by now someone has fed him a whole mum and let him flip as many tables as he enjoys.

Agreed, Renn. Finnick is one of my top 5 favorite horses ever and he deserves a fabulous retirement. What an amazing horse.
