Maclay finals

My feed dropped just as they were reading the updated standby. Carlee McC. went to the top ahead of Luke Jensen. Stella Wasserman 4th I think. Avery Glynn in the top 10 as well. It was hard to see from the view on the feed but Skylar’s bobble looks like it may keep her off the standby. BUT, who knows, thanks to the CMH feed.

That will depend on how much writing I do now that I’m home. If I finish the section I want to do today in time, I’ll try and tune in for the very end … but we’ll see.

I’m very sorry to see that. It was hard to tell what happened from the live feed, so maybe it looked different from where the judges are sitting today.

Ok, now the live feed was stuck in a time loop for me, so I heard the first six names on the standby three times in a row, but not the rest of the standby list. And now it’s frozen.

I would like it to be known I did not say ONE. BLESSED. THING. about Skylar this week. Not a word. You can’t blame me for this.

I worried about that situation because it sure looked like the horse hesitated off the ground, and if the judges couldn’t see he stumbled, they would have had to hold it against them. With the arrangement of jumps in the ring, I don’t know how they could have gotten a clear view of his front feet. Unfortunate day, and also that’s horses.

There are tractors now and no more of the standby list. The Chronicle may post it here at some point. https://www.chronofhorse.com/article/2022-aspca-maclay-finals-commentary

I will be so sad if that bobble kept Skyler off the standby, in what was otherwise an actual perfect round. I don’t think that was much different from Augusta, who didn’t have a perfect round either… :triumph::triumph::triumph:

I’m surprised that Skylar didn’t make the standby. I thought her round was better than some that did make it.

Just curious, if the horse stumbles (as perhaps Skylar Wireman’s horse did) why is that considered a flaw? They are animals, sometimes they stumble. So why would that be considered “an error”?

I thought it looked flawless, other than that one (whatever it was that happened) in front of the one jump. But maybe that one moment looked funky to the judges.

Everytime I have a comment to post, the feed freezes and I have to reload it. And then I forget about my comment.

It comes down to whether they saw the horse stumble or if it looked like he hesitated off the ground. One isn’t under the rider’s control. The other is a major error.

I was about to comment on your presence here, but I did not. Lol.

Whatever it was, she recovered from it perfectly.
Whoops, I meant to respond to @MHM.

Yes, absolutely.

Sometimes the horses look Very Alarmed about what’s going on, and I’m always impressed with the riders who hold it together and get them around (because that’s when I start falling apart).
