Mag Restore Vs. Quiessence
I tried Quiessence for a while with NO luck whatsoever, and have never used the MagRestore. I use epsom salts with excellent results, and have for years now.

That said, if the Quiessence works, you can get a bag of plain magnesium oxide at a feed store for MUCH MUCH less money. Its the mag ox that helps with calming, not the other ingredients.
This sounds much better than buying the name brands do you just ask for a bag of Mag at the feed store? Do they keep this in stock? Does it come in a powder and how much of it do you feed?

I have been using MagRestore for several months. I see a remarkable difference in both my little paint mare and my giant appendix… but the difference could also be I took them off grain and now use a Hay Balancer from Tribute. I almost sold both my horses due to their crazy attitudes and with feeding mainly a hay diet and the 1lb a day of balancer they are like different horses. I did add the Mag Restore and using the loading dose of 2 scoops am/pm daily for each. I have calm focused horses. I actually won an APHA trail class with my spooky paint mare… she was calm focused and amazing. I swear by NO GRAIN, except a hay balancer, and Mag Restore. We also use Gastrix on a daily basis to help with any potential ulcers. All is GREAT at Awsum Acres.

Yes, magnesium only works if a horse is deficient, and plain old magnesium oxide will work as well as fancy/pricey supplements if animal is truly deficient as my gelding was. If you’re not seeing a difference after a week or 2, stop supplementing it and go back to the drawing board to figure out what else might be bothering your horse.

Magnesium only works if the horse is deficient, claims of bioavailability or not. I would get the least expensive version and if you don’t see results after a few weeks, you aren’t going to.

The bag I got was a pinkish granular powder. Tablespoon a day to start–if it makes a difference you can gradually cut back as long as your horse is still sane. Mine all get a tsp a day for maintenance–all they seem to need over what’s in their vit/min pellets. I bought a 50 lb bag ($30) back in spring of 2016 and haven’t finished it yet. It’s a mineral, so as long as it doesn’t get wet, it really can’t spoil.

REMISSION is the best

MagOx doesn’t work for every horse. More than a few horses have had no results from MagOx, but great results from MagRestore. Not all forms of Mg affect everyone the same way. Ask anyone who has gone through the various forms to help with sleep and you’ll find the form that works is all different. Some forms will cause diarrhea sooner than others. Not all horses absorb all nutrients the same way.

IME it can take longer than 2 weeks for Mg to do its thing, if it’s going to do something. I tell people give it a month.
