No expert on this kind of stuff, but I find it impossible to believe that if he’s still hospitalized, that he would see the back end of a mare anytime in 2019. Mostly hoping he pulls through.
So thankful for an update!
racing connections doing whats right for the beloved horse. Sounds like he’s been a star patient which is what he needs to be if he is going to overcome this. My guess is that the injury to his leg was pretty horrific if he has yet to leave the Cornell center across the street from the track. Hopefully he an continue to pull through and have a good life after all of this.
This was also my guess with a secondary guess of laminitis (since the two can often be linked in bad leg injuries).
I suspect at this point, hoping more for successful outcome and less about an actual breeding career…
Magnum Moon was humanely euthanized today in Elmont, New York, after loosing his year long fight with laminitis.
My heart is breaking for this game colt and his connections.
He’s now at peace and pain free.

Makes me appreciate a bit more the miracle that was Lady Eli and her fight with laminitis to recover and successfully continue her racing career.
Broke my heart reading he was euthanized today. Run free Magnum Moon…
Darn it. I knew this was a likely outcome, given that he was still in the clinic a year and four months after the injury. Still, you can hope . . .
He was gorgeous in the paddock at Oaklawn. I was there that day.
C***.
Outcome did not sound good from the beginning, but I was hoping.
Good for his connections to do the right thing.
he put up a truly valiant fight. my thoughts are with his connections and all of those who dedicated the past year caring for him. I am sure it wasn’t easy.
