Mahindra tractor reviews anyone?

We have a John Deer 4300 now, but we need something a little larger and stronger.

We need to move XC jumps, so would like forks for the FEL, and probably a back hoe attachment someday. The hand writing on the wall says that we need to prepare to be able to feed big bales to our pasture horses. The JD won’t do those jobs.

We are looking at the 60hp size, but maybe that’s overkill.

There is a local dealer for Mahindra tractors, but I don’t know anyone personally who has one.

They got very popular here (nh) and now that they hVe been on the market for a few years you’ll probably be ok. I was skeptical when they were new and went w MF which has served me well but mahindra is still doing ok. If the dealership is good and nearby that’s huge.

JD makes great machines but they are really expensive compared to the rest.

We bought a small one new 8 years ago and love it. I use it hard and no problems at all. A friend has a model closer in size to what you are looking at and also speaks highly of it.

I know some people who have had a Mahindra for about ten years, and it’s still going strong. If you can get parts and service easily, which is a problem here, you should be okay.

My uncle has one, that he first purchased when they were relatively new to the market, and he still has it. Going strong and he loves it. He works it too, he doesn’t just use it a few times a year.

You can do further research about the brand in online communities like TractorByNet. Mahindra has done fairly well for itself in the North American market and had to kick things up to compete with Kubota, Deere and New Holland. As with any machinery like this, local support is important, so don’t just evaluate the tractor, look carefully at the dealer and its service department.

We have 2, one is 40hp and the other is 60 or 65hp. For us they have been fine. We don’t use them all the time. In fact we keep the big one on a trickle charger to save the battery. My biggest objection to the larger one is the ergonomic design of it. I have long legs and arms (am 5’9") and it is still not comfortable for me. We’ve had very few mechanical problems with them and the smaller one is nearly 20 years old. The larger one we bought to use moving round bales 2 at a time out of the field. Since then we got a grappler for it and use it for moving dead trees and brush piles.

We have one of their smaller tractors. We’ve had it for two years now with no problems at all.

Thank you everyone. I think we will go test drive one!
