I thought with my small sandy acreage I could simply buy the smaller one from Tractor supply, etc… to pull behind the garden tractor. However, I’m finding? most suggest even those with those tines would probably uproot the grass in that sandy loamy soil, vs. just spread and level manure and grass clippings, etc, ‘into’ the existing grass but not digging it all up. So, I’ve ‘heard’ of a chain link fence ‘section’ … anyone have any other input or even photos of how tos? ---- thanks!!!
flip it over and use the backside of the drag?
Northern Tool also has a selection
I use a section of chain link fence doubled over to drag my pastures and it works great. I have an old fireplace grate wired to it to weigh it down but a couple cinderblocks would probably work too.

Chain link fence section works great !
yes, sometimes a weight on top helps ~ cinderblocks easily added or subtracted and re-positioned.
no need to purchase anything ~ imho[/B]
I have that little harrow from TSC. I pull it with an ATV. Even on the aggressive setting it doesn’t uproot the grass. I’m in FL with sand for top soil.
I’ve used chain link, I’ve used a tire, I’ve used a pallet. I’ve used a pallet with a tire on top. None were as effective as my little TSC harrow.
Deleted because I can’t get a pic uploaded due to patchy internet service. For my sanity, I’ll try again later.
I pull chain harrows behind an ATV and we have very sandy soil also. I’ve never had an issue with pulling grass up or harrows sinking into the ground. They break manure up fabulously. The only time I don’t harrow is if the ground is absolutely saturated - but I’d be equally concerned about the ATV tires tearing up the grass then.
