It seems pretty unofficially official…hehehe… anyone who would like to “wear” a tribute to the victims et al, should wear a red, white, and blue ribbon (like a breast cancer or Aids ribbon). My mother works in a crafts store and bought two spools of red/white/blue ribbon (all they had left) and made hundreds of them. I have been handing them out to friends, family, coworkers (including my reporters who wear them live on the air in support) and strangers on the street. Let’s show our solidarity! Everyone get yourself some ribbon and wear it with pride!
Use your horse show ribbons - certainly you have some in red, white & blue. Cut the streamers to a reasonable width. You could probably make two or three with each streamer.

First time I’ve smiled in days!! Seriously, I hope to have a few by this time next year!
The prevailing spirit of unity is amazing as I see all the red, white, and blue; people painting their vehicles, wearing ribbons, displaying flags, it’s very heartening!
I cut up some ribbons and made red, white and blue streamers for my car and my husbands car. There were pretty big ribbons and it worked perfectly. My husband was surprised that I cut them up since they were what I won at my first horse show since having Ethan but this just seemed more important. I really wanted to show my support and it was the fastest way to do it.

See here I am again, penalized because I can only seem to find yellow, green and white ribbons from recent horse shows. Oh and then of course there is that lovely pink one. Whose idea was pink anyway?
In all sincerity I am wearing red, white and blue clothes as I sit here on Saturday. Have my little old flag pin on my lapel.
This rekindled patriotism feels pretty darn good.

I just took red, white and blue hair ribbons I had, tied them to my antenna, and braided them down.
I have some ribbons left over not only from showing, but some thinner ones from my sewing days. I like the idea of putting a streamer on my truck’s antenna.

This morning my sister and I went to the MJDesigns to purchase ribbon and have bows made to place on our cars and my dad’s mailbox.
They were also selling ribbons in yellow (for the missing), purple (courage), and black (for the loss). I got three ribbons of these colors to tie, along with red, white, and blue, to my purse. I also had a red, white, and blue bow made to tie to my side car mirror (my antenna goes down!).
There were a ton of people there, and it was great to see everybody wearing their patriotic colors. (Today is my old navy 4th of July shirt).
My friend and her mom made over 200 ribbons one night and passed them out at school on Friday. It was pretty cool seeing all the kids I go to school with just lining up to grab one.
Then at the equestrian team meet, my whole team had flags and ribbons for the opening ceremony and another team was handing out little flags with horse treats. Most kids put the flags on their halters and/or bridles. It was great.

I work at a JoAnn etc and we RAN OUT of navy and royal blue ribbon. All that was left last night was pale blue. There were so many people there yesterday buying red, white, and blue ribbons, and tons of people buying safety pins and beads to make those beaded flag pins. One of my coworkers was up until 2 am Friday night making ribbons, and she had to open Saturday, she made all of us ribbons to wear…all the customers wanted them too, we ran out of those too. There are so many out there showing their support!
I’ve been trying in vain to find some red, white and blue ribbon or cloth, heck I’d even settle for 2 out of 3 colors.
Who said patriotism was a thing of the past?
I have a bunch of ribbon from doing my browbands, and last night I put my red, white, and blue to good use and made little ribbons for everyone in our sorority house…then off to WalMart (which is completely out of red, blue, and yellow ribbon) where I bought their LAST box of safety pins. Now we’ll be able to have a little red, white, and blue with us at all times.
