I just recently got a new saddle pad and someone decided to use it on a horse that just rolled in deep mud. I brought it home soaked it in bleach for about 15 minutes and washed it. It came out a creme color but the trim remained white. How do I get it to be white again? I’ve got a show in 3 days!
The someone who got it dirty needs to buy you a new pad!
Why is someone else using your pad anyway? Agree they need to buy you a new pad. The trouble with bleach is that it sometimes turns things yellow. I spot clean first with Oxi Clean, then warm or hot water and detergent if its a fabric or fleece pad, if its sheepskin I use a cleaner formulated just for hides.
I don’t use bleach. It yellows. I use Oxiclean and sometimes I wash them more than once. Use a stiff brush on dirty areas.
soak 10 min. in bleach water and then was using environmentally friendly soap, works like a charm!!!
You can also try adding white vinegar to the wash cycle, and I always do a pre-wash soak and pre-treat badly spotted or stained items and have had good luck with that protocol.
I would be interested to know if Oxyclean could bring it back. But, I agree the borrower just needs to get you a new one! Monogram everything and make it clear your stuff is not for borrowing!
powerwash first to get hair/dirt/sweat off. then in the washer with hot water and oxyclean. that’s the best way!
Another vote here for the powerwasher + Oxyclean combo.
I second Oxyclean in the wash, and then add a tiny pinch of laundry blueing to the rinse cycle. BTW, laundry blueing in minute amounts does wonders for making white markings sparkle!
I agree about blueing, I use it sometimes but you have to be careful not to use too much or you will have a blue saddle pad. I mix it with water in a jar first to make sure it is fully diluted, then add it to the machine.
Dry cleaners?
