Mallard Springs Farm- SC .. any experience?

I watched a bunch of videos…all his “warmblood” crosses look thinner than a track TB. Do these horses have any papers, or are they all just guess-the-breeds?

Sad…because with weight and TLC they would look so much better.

Ill give him this - he can take a good photo…hide ribs, shadow the neck…but when you look at the videos its just sad.

Oh, this puzzle just keeps getting better and better! Marion Quattlebaum was represented to me as someone who he works with… In fact, they recommended a shipper and said “make sure you tell Pat that William and Marion sent you from Mallard Springs.” Turns out, on his Orchard Farm website she is getting a shout out- this one is my personal favorite of course:
*CONGRATULATIONS TO MARION QUATTLEBAUM AND OUR VERY OWN “SUGARFOOT SPECIAL” NORTH CAROLINA STATE 4-H CHAMPION HUNTER-UNDER SADDLE AND HUNTER-TYPE GELDING IN HAND!!! WE LOVE YOU BOTH!!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

He doesn’t list his name on the site because everybody knows he is batsh*t crazy!

P.S. If it’s Thomson, there’s no way he has a “wife”. He prefers those of the male persuasion. I call that story he told you to be a crock of crap.

Personally, I’m finding it hard to believe that Marion Quattlebaum is not a fictitious creature.
He also got chatty with me and told me his wife wanted him to sell off his broodmare band and that “I had a great eye because those are his two best horses.” I was also informed that he had a stallion by Ironman… Wonder what condition those guys are in.
A stallion by Ironman…as in the Oldenburg stallion in WI?

Glad I read this - I have the Mallard Springs ads saved on my Equine.com account. The ads are catchy enough to make me check out the website, but I was not too impressed once I browsed around. Just didn’t seem legit. Fancy young horses with impressive breeding but cheap prices. Makes you think you happened to have come across a hole-in-the-wall secret jackpot. Seems too good to be true, and low and behold…it is!

No, Quattlebaum really is an old southern name. Lots of them here in Savannah. But here they are good people altho not horse people.

Thomson is the guy on the hannomerci thread. Rumor there was that he had moved to mallard springs, which is why I posted for people to read that thread. And hannomerci got her $ back!

Contact hannomerci on coth. Get the same SC lawyer she did and sue. You don’t need to return the horses to that awful place. You can sue for breach of contract and collect the difference between the value of the horses you were shown and the value of the horses you received. Ask for punitive damages and court costs and attorney’s fees. Meaning you can sue f or a lot more than this fraud cost you. sometimes monetary punishment thru puntivie damages judgments are the only way to stop these people.
At least it might get them out of SC. (I am 1/2 southcarolinian and we don’t like cheaters and people who use religion to steal and cheat.) Send them on over to GA and we’ll take care of them here.

This guy is nuts. I FINALLY got a hold of him and he talked his swagger and then promptly hung up the phone. He is so out of whack.

Anyone care for an update!? Chestnut has previously foundered terribly. Put front shoes on the poor guy and now he’s somewhat sound. Looks like he’s on a dry lot schedule here on out. Grey? HUGE swollen lymph node on the right. Both have glassed over look. Can’t find the vet who provided the health certificates either- his number is disconnected… Hmmmmm

Good news? We are set up as a quarantine facility and the Greenwood Sheriff’s Department is fantastic to work with.

And, yes, Ironman from WI. Riiigghht.

Holycrap. TheHarrier, where was the vet supposedly based out of?

Wow, what a load of crap. That guy is wading deep in the bs. He doesn’t deserve to own horses…

This is getting

Let me preface this by saying that we have been on the phone all morning with the Sheriff of the county and further deduction has led us to the conclusion that the vet that “supposedly” signed the health certificate does not exist. We have also contacted the state vet that knows no one by the name represented on the certificate. I will say this for the record (because I know it will probably come up) but we are not posting on here to threaten or slander anyone. What has occured is wrong - not only the misrepresentation of the animals for sale - but the overall state and condition of these horses can be classified as abuse. I want to stop this man from abusing any more animals as well as lying to and swindling any future customers that may fall into his brutal scheme of selling horses.

Ok if the health certificate is falsified, you need to get hannomerci’s lawyer, or one similar to him, right away and get everyone on this case.
That’s civil and crimnal fraud, to falsify the health certificate.
Sue his *** off, which is a legal term we use in the south to mean get money and get revenge.

And stop him from preying on other unknowing people. He may say he’s praying, but he’s really preying.

ETA Coth needs a “beware this seller” forum where prospective buys could check out sellers. Or rename it so that we could promote good sellers also, like the one who sold me Cloudy. Great seller!

For those of you following - check out the updated pictures of the two sweethearts. You can clearly see the swollen lymphnode on the grey, along with the welts and sores on his neck. Also, you can see the foot of the chestnut that has severly foundered.

cloudyandcallie - ON IT! The only person we could find by the name of this supposed vet is someone based out of Myrtle Beach (who is not practicing anymore). At this point, even though we spent money on two half dead horses (one completely foundered), the bottom line is to stop this from happening again.

What do you suppose the two worst ones look like?:eek::eek:

TheHarrier, best of luck with the horses and the rest of it.

I sure am glad you stumbled upon him, Harrier. And I’m glad those two sad souls ended up with you.

You get him, honey!!!

Popcorn anyone? Ok, well I will take one (or two) for the team and share my recent experience with the good ole boy. Ahhh, where does one start?

I did the lovely deed and purchased two horses from “William” from Mallard Springs. For those of you wondering, it doesn’t take a CSI detective to figure out he’s from Old Orchard and he’s really the old school Thomson… cute name he chose to switch to, eh? Now, I know some of you are going to jump on me and say “BUT HOW ARE YOU SURE?!?”… go look at both websites, the videos and his overall style of writing… I personally like his “CONGRATULATIONS” trash- don’t patronize me. Perhaps his Beethoven background music in his videos help him feel a bit more legit or fancy if you will.

Long story short, “William” wouldn’t hold for a vetting so I figured, ok, fine, I’ll buy them and they aren’t very expensive so we will see what we can do. You can usually fix poor training with time. I saw pictures and videos of legs and the horse in general and thought- they look fine. Both had a cute jump and relatively attractive in many aspects- why not take a chance?

Well, shipper picked up the horses in SC, called me on his way home and said "Hey! Who did you rescue?.. " I thought, Ha. Ha. Funny, okay, what do you need? Well, no joke, I paid for two rescue horses- which I’ve now come to terms with. The shipper said there wasn’t any hay to be found on the farm so these two trailered the ENTIRE 10+ hr trip without hay… Even after I told “William” I would pay for two bales. I asked for the horses to be pillow wrapped- said I’d pay for that too. He agreed and said it would “not be a problem!!!” They were not…

The horses each had over 30 plus ticks on them, welts oozing all over their bodies, the chestnut’s teeth are so horrid that his tongue is lacerated, their hooves are an utter mess… very quiet, sweet and hungry though. They are hanging out for portions of the day in our grass fields and happy as can be.

Lastly, my favorite part of his last correspondence with me was when he pulled in the “puppy mill” approach. “If you dont like them. Just ship them back to me, and I will be happy to sell them for you, for the price that you paid, according to the terms of my consignment program. Or if you see two other horses on the web site that you like… I will be happy to trade them. The only horse that can not be traded is TatabraLulu. She is not mine…She is consigned, and not be traded.” … Oh William, yes, if only I could have the luxury of sending them to your lovely sales barn.

I have posted pictures on Flickr of what I thought I purchased and what came off of the trailer. I’m shocked and appalled. I have been exchanging interesting emails with this naughty William. Oh and he’s a Christian? Bestow my heart. No worries, I’m on this one like white on rice.

OMG, those poor ponies! I can’t believe they are in that condition. I mean they had to be in decent condition when the videos were taken… how long did it take MSF to do that to them??

Did anyone notice the “Rescue” section of their site???

He needs to be STOPPED!!!

I can’t believe he would try to represent those as the same horses. You are saintly for getting them all fixed up so quickly.
