 It is hard to believe they are the same horses. Wow.
So glad they landed with you.

Can someone local call the ASPCA on this guy?
Turns out the health certificate and coggins were done by a legitimate vet, however, (wait for it) they were done at the vale horse auction in NC. Spoke with the vet and he claims that the horses he saw had shoes on and there was no horse that foundered…hmmm. Whatever the case may be, the vet was very helpful and said that he was told these horses had been traveling for about two weeks and that was the “reason” for them being skinny. The vet said he reassured him that this should not happen during travel. Not sure what the TRUE story is but we will see.
This is getting stranger and stranger. TheHarrier, I’m sorry for what you’ve been through with these poor horses and commend you for not giving up the fight!
Hmmm, I wonder is Vale is a “kill” auction. Seems like the horses are pretty decent quality pre-MSF. Anyone else have info on said auction?
I think it is just a local auction, like many in NC and SC where just about any sort of horse may show up. Since there are rarely “kill buyers” anymore they are just “low end” auctions. Some horses are actually “dumped” at the auction house! Of course, I imagine it wouldn’t be hard to photoshop a thin horse to look like a fatter horse…just saying
Anyone care to speculate on what might have happened at the auction? Is it possible that the vet examined stand-ins?
My exact thoughts, Lulu…
Do the markings on these horses you purchased match the coggins exactly? Got to love those photo coggins they have these days… sure would have come in handy here…
Yes, spoke with the vet that did them and he said that a man “trailered” them in to get both coggins and health certificate - but said that his name was not Thomson Moore. SO the confusion begins. The markings on the coggins do however match up with both horses. The vet also said that the horses were very thin but seemingly sound.
Thanks to all for your suggestions and support - it is MUCH appreciated. The most important thing is that these lovely animals are happy, comfortable and on their way to being healthy.

I thought the same thing! She used to be a really nice mare. Makes you wonder what happened to her
I bet she was something in her day. So probably someone had her until they hit hard times… and had to move her…
… or someone used her up and didn’t want to provide her a retirement. Very sad either way.
Her eye is so kind … very sad, she deserves much better than Mallard or Moore for sure…
1999 is not old for a jumper, heck she is just 12 yrs old! Suspect she had a career ending injury and if I were buying her would want a MAJOR vetting with vet of MY CHOICE. THings don’t add up there at all. Doesn’t it bother other people when they see websites that do not tell you ANYTHING about the owners, trainers, or facility??? No photos AT ALL of the facility. If these horses are indeed “bred” by the owners, no info on bloodlines, reference sires, dams etc? IDK, once again doesn’t add up.
It’s also a possibility that Lulu’s owners thought that this “Christian-based establishment” was going to give their horse a loving retirement home.
Or perhaps Thomson picked her up at auction. Isn’t that where he gets his sales horses? I feel so bad for these horses. They all look so thin and so defeated.
Fwiw… “William” has posts on craiglist looking for someone to bushhog the pastures. Apparently manual labor is beneath him, and paying someone is more important than feed or farrier care.
Interesting O/O farm has no horses available, and MS has only 2 I believe. Maybe we need Fugly on this one
TheHarrier-
Did your vet ever say what those sores were on the grey’s neck? I’ve never seen anything like that…
Haha, manual labor was beneath him when he was in Anderson as well, which included feeding his horses. He got others to feed for him… Maybe he has nobody to feed for him now so they just don’t get fed regularly?

How can Thomson/William be expected to do barn duties when he is regularly traveling to Europe to shop for prospects?

This guy is a sociopath! I too made an offer on one of his horses last Fall. While in the process of arranging a vetting he emailed me that the horse had been sold… And, then the horse appeared back on his website claiming that the funding fell through, after he had told me the people paid through Paypal. I commented on this under his youtube video and he called and threatened me with a lawsuit for slander. Told him to bring it on.
I wonder if this “rescue” feature he has added will be leveraged in some way by him, in terms of him counter-claiming that you “knew” or any other trusting person knew, that these were rescue horses… And, that the pictures he posted were the horses cleaned up, and that photos always make the subject look bigger…
The fact that these horses shipped out of state with fraudulent papers is a felony… And, I’m sure it’s not the first time.
Have at him sister, and should their be a “call to arms” and you’re in need of supporting allegations, I think people will be crawling out of the woodwork to support at a minimum an immediate cease and desist order on this guy.
Thank God, for you, that those two are now in safe harbor.
Yeah, we too have recieved many threatening messages that he will be suing us for “slander” AND “libel”… First of all, slander is spoken - which he has no proof of us verbally saying anything about him. Now libel, maybe…however I do believe all we have been saying is the truth about our story and the condition of these horses. I feel as though we have a duty to warn people about this guy and his practices. We don’t think the coggins and health certificate were fraudulent - the horses were taken from SC to the horse auction in Vale, NC to get these papers…SO that means they crossed state lines without papers in the first place. Hmmm, not sure what that means. They were then taken back to SC where our shipper picked them up at his farm.
Class action anyone?
