Mallard Springs Farm- SC .. any experience?

His random calling with threats of contacting police, etc. Is just so benign and stupid, and for me simply summed up what a dope he is. My suspicion is that the majority of his horses are bought at auction, or the backside. And, these advertised WB/TB’s, which coincidentally seem to be at “36 month yo” range (and, who ever refers to a 3yo as 36 months?), are probably 3yo’s out of training that were not tatooed, and therefore could easily be passed off as WB/TB. I’d like to email a selection of the references he has featured. Something about the variety of email addresses and names seemed odd to me… In fact, I’m going to do just that… What is so counter to all of this though, the majority of what he presents appear to be very athletic jumpers, with great movement. That’s the part of the equation that perplexes me…

I shall proceed with reference checking… If the email responses I receive back contain any misspelled words, poor grammer, or a libal vs libel–we will be assured of an ever-thickening plot!

libel, we will know that the plot thickens!

I know a couple people who would get in on a class action suit if one is started.

Shoot I’d go in on that. I was taken by this guy…have the pics and vets and witnesses to prove it. Sent me a mare who supposedly had no vices and in good weight. She came to me thin as can be, hardly any front teeth (HORRIBLE cribber), but she was sweet. It was heart wrenching to see this mare. We found out from her breeder (thank God for google) that she had given her to Moore because he promised her a forever home. So yes he is “rescuing” horses and reselling them for a profit.

Ok ladies, please read these tips on class action lawsuits. (I had a friend who did a class action lawsuit on the Ford Pinto gas tank explosions. . He got a lot of money for his clients, and a lot of money for himself.)

Hire a well-known trial attorney. Lots of people say they are great attorneys but are AFRAID to go to court. You must have a person who handles a lot of trials or he will settle your case for peanuts.

Hire an attorney from a well-heeled firm. Class action suits take time and money. Big $$$ firms can carry much of the cost, since they get about 50% of the amt recovered. so you don’t want a lawyer living hand to mouth of he’ll be nickel and diming you for costs all the while.

You do not NOT have to hire an “equine lawyer.” A smart trial lawyer can be taught, by you or by experts, everything he needs to know about horses and horse dealers. (My friend only knew how to start his car when he got the Ford class action suit. He settled the case for many millions.)

You want someone who is local and either liked or feared by the judges. In rural areas, this is very important. In a big city, it’s not so important. But believe me, in the country anywhere, “home cooking” “ain"t” something you eat. It is something that happens when the judge and the defense attorney go hunting or fishing or “running” (not involving jogging) together. A local attorney who is the judge’s buddy is going to get you more than someone who does not know the judge. A big name feared lawyer from anywhere is going to get you money too.

Jurors are local and are also an issue. I’ve found that jurors tend to overlook those who come in from elsewhere as “foreigners” but there are still some issues with being a woman or being black if you have either as a lawyer. It’s human nature. Plus they usually do not like city slickers.

You can get your class action suit removed to federal court where you can get jurors from cities and the country. So that is a very good idea.

You actually need someone like John Edwards. Jurors like him. He has the charisma to overcome his issues and make jurors understand and give his clients, in class action lawsuits, a lot of money. He has won a lot of class action suits. And he’s got the ego that trial lawyers must have to be successful. And he’s got the girlfriend, Lisa Druck, who grew up with horses to advise him.

This is astonishing to me that this man has been able to get away with this for so long and claim that everyone else is insane for questioning his judgment and practices. Here is the latest threatening e-mail from you know who… (I couldn’t make this up if I wanted to…)

YOU ARENT WORTH MY TIME. YOU REALLY ARENT WORTH ANYONES TIME… WHICH IS WHY IM GUESSING THAT YOU ARE ARENT MARRIED. DO NOT CONTACT ME AGAIN! NOW I KNOW WHY NO ONE IN YOUR AREA LIKES YOU! I WAS WARNED BY SEVERAL PEOPLE IN VA THAT SAID YOU WERE “CRAZY,” AND THAT YOU DONT EVEN OWN YOUR OWN FARM…YOU ARE A FARM MANAGER. HAHAHA!! . TYPICAL FOR A POOR HORSE PSYCHO. BIG TALK, BUT A TOTAL LOSER IN REAL LIFE. I WILL BE CONTACTING THE OWNER OF THE FARM THAT YOU WORK FOR REGARDING YOUR BEHAVIOR. NO ONE SHOULD EMPLOY ANYONE WHO BEHAVES AS YOU DO. YOU MAKE THEIR FARM LOOK BAD. YOU NEED TO BE FIRED. NO ONE NEEDS A FOOL RUNNING THEIR FARM. ONCE AGAIN, DONT CONTACT ME AGAIN. I WOULD THINK YOU SHOULD BE USED TO THAT REQUEST BY NOW. I WONDER HOW MANY MEN HAVE ASKED YOU TO LEAVE THEM ALONE OVER THE YEARS. LOL. WELL, HERE’S ONE MORE FOR THE RECORD BOOKS… LEAVE ME ALONE “CRAZY CORIE!” HAHAHAHAHA

The e-mail that provoked this response is as follows:

William,

What is the vet’s name and number who performed the health certificate? The number is disconnected on the health certificate.

I then responded with this:

William,

I do not need to divulge any information to you regarding my personal life. I will go as far to say this though; my husband is quite handsome and a devoted Christian. I think he has a pretty good grasp on those values more so than you do at this point in your life.

I’m glad you’ve “talked” to people in VA. I’m known as a very open and honest seller and report any known (or even problems I think might be present but not confirmed) illness or soundness issue to any buyer prior to purchase. I have never had one unhappy client and that is because I am very upfront and honest. I don’t sell horses to clients who I’m not positive the match will work- it’s only fair to them as I know the horse more than they do.

I’m glad that you took out the time to view my website- isn’t it lovely? Don’t my horses look healthy and well cared for? One great thing about going to school is you learn how to build fantastic websites but more importantly you understand that stealing another farm’s name AND logo can get you in a bit of a trouble. You obviously haven’t investigated me or my reputation beyond my website. I invite you to do so.

You are correct, I manage this lovely facility. I encourage you to contact the owner. Here’s something to add to your in-depth, on-going research: it’s my family’s farm and I’m not an employee.

I don’t understand why you feel as
though contacting you and asking for the vet’s name and number to verify information, is me chasing you. Quite frankly, I’m repulsed by you. I don’t care if you call me disturbing names to make yourself feel better; you obviously need the uplifting at this point. I can assure you, you don’t scare me in the least with your childish berating.

So please, give me the information pertaining to what vet was used and there will not be any further discussion on my behalf.

On another note, just had the vet out for the horses and he was pretty outraged with the condition of both. Both are lame behind, and the chestnut’s teeth have been neglected for so long that his tongue was lacerated in 3 different locations (all older and healed). The grey also has a positive tendon on the front - looks like a bow, and the chestnut is chronically lame in his front left and the front right is the leg that foundered. The vet explained a reason for this correlation but I won’t go into detail. Did some bloodwork and now awaiting the results.

Does this guy really think he can piss on my leg and tell me its raining?

Almost forgot - red2004 - I sent an e-mail to every one of his references almost a week ago and haven’t gotten a response back yet…hmm wonder why.

TheHarrier, You are my hero!

I was hoping Jo and mlcoursin would stop by this thread, nice to see you guys:)

Figured I’d see you here!

Holy smokes!

I agree with Lulu- theharrier- you are awesome.

This guy is such a psychopath!!! Can we PLEASE stop this guy?!?

Also, someone please look up Tatabra Lulu’s last owner and make sure they know where she is. They may have “donated” her and not know she’s being sold again.

Anyone know him?

This guy is more than a dishonest horse seller. That e-mail shows that he is not a stable person. Hard to believe he has gotten away with his unethical practices and shaky temperament for so long without being sued or put out of business for good.

I think the bottom line is that con artists are usually very good at what they do or else they’d be out of business after their first few swindles. I confess, when I first came across the Mallard Springs ads on Equine.com, I was intrigued too. Many of his horses seem to jump extremely well (or are they photoshopped?), and you think to yourself, “well, here’s a diamond in the rough. What have I got to lose?” The fact that the horses have their tails vet-wrapped and are wearing saddles to free jump only adds to one’s impression that the seller is a bumpkin who may not know that his horse is worth more than $2500. I will venture to guess that T/W can be very nice to deal with before getting your money and doesn’t turn into Mr. Hyde until after you want your money back. Very sociopathic behavior.

I sincerely hope that someone in South Carolina law enforcement is building a criminal case against this guy. Hopefully, anyone who’s been swindled by T/W will have the courage to come forward, speak out, and help shut him down for good.

Well Harrier that sounds SO much like the vocie mail message I got one day, calling me an “idiot”! And honestly I can take 100 pictures of a horse free jumping and find one or two that look pretty good! LOL Not to say some of the horses might not turn out to be something, BUT the two I bought from him, one was pretty decent (but MUCH MUCH older than I was told) and the other was a “Champion” childrens hunter that couldn’t even trot a fence! (found out later that he came from a boys home camp and had never jumped!), Anyways, so glad someone is going after this guy!

Omg Tatabra LuLu should not be here (well no horse should be in the hands of W/T)
Trying to find contact info for Randy, not working so well but I found this: http://www.youngjumpers.com/2006/kn_6yo.htm

Randy Hannold currently rides with Daniel Geitner, however, if this mare has a Tryon address it would have been with his old business partner. I currently work for that business partner and have asked her if she knows the mare. She does!
Lulu- I am PMing you contact information. She is very interested.

Does anybody think it would be worthwhile contacting the breeder as well? I know I wouldn’t want anything I bred ending up in this kind of a situation.

I can assure you the Tatabra Lulu situation is covered.

Glad to hear it!
