Have they done a biopsy of the ulcer? That would be a high priority. I had a pyloris ulcer diagnosed and when it didn’t heal we are thinking it is a polyp not an ulcer. Waiting for pathology report now.
I also have sent in a hair analysis to DePaolo in tx as they say horses that can’t seem to get better can have some toxicity in their system that once corrected they heal. Eating for those results also.

I would like to say that I have a 17 yr. old Quarter Horse mare that came to me last year with gut upset, was fearful of just about everything, stressed to the limit and spooked at everything. I’ve had horses with ulcers, but this one was a mess.
I went through the usual protocol for ulcers, but couldn’t afford to continue with the extreme expense. I did research on natural products and found JUR on facebook. I gave it a try for over 3 months and have seen a complete turn around with this mare. She’s like a different horse. No more gassy farts (sorry) and looks amazing.
Thank you JUR for saving this mare.
I have one that went through a long period of chronic ulcers. Scope, find ulcers, gastrogard, scope clear and three to six months later do it all over again. Tried every possible recommended ulcer management protocol. Veterinarian recommended trying Relyne GI from Hagyard, had used it on one other case with good results. That was two and a half years ago and horse hasn’t had a relapse since then. There is a loading dose and a maintenance dose, he stays on the loading dose since it works for him. He is on ulcer management protocol as well. Forage based diet, no grain, good quality multi-vitamin mineral supplement, mix of timothy and alfalfa, yada yada… He’s older and requires periodic injections to manage hock and coffin joint arthritis. FWIW - we put him on the RelyneGI at the end of a gastrogard series when he had scoped clean. I’m not sure whether it would work as a treatment of active ulcers but in this case it works exceedingly well as a prevention therapy. He still works but is retired from the show ring so no travel and life is pretty easy for him. If you were to try the Relyne GI - you might want to ask them about using Gastrogard in combination with the product for travel, showing etc. as I don’t know if the interaction would lessen the effect. Good luck and don’t give up hope!
