Mane Extensions?

Has anyone used these for shows? I know plenty who use tail extensions, but not mane extension. It makes sense if a horse rips out a chunk of mane or if the mane is to short(naturally) to braid decently for dressage knots or hunter braids. My pony has a terrible mane, I managed to get it to grow out to about 4-5 inches, and then he decided to catch it on the fence. My other horse has a gorgeous mane, easily a foot and half long, and I don’t do anything different for the two of them. Their tails are the opposite, pony has a tail that hits the ground, the others tail barely goes past his hock.

If you do use them, how do you put them in? Do you sew them in, use clips, bonding glue, etc.?

Ive filled in thin braids by doubling (or more) on the yarn. If you use a professional braider (or can get your hands on one) have them come out and teach you how to do it. Or give them a good idea of what they will be facing.

forgot the how - instead of the one strand of yarn use 2 or 3 or 4. make sure to match as close as possible to the mane, keep the braids as close as possible - you may need to make them smaller/tighter spaced.

edited again - if you show western then just roach the mane.
