Mane 'n Tail Detangler

Can you use Mane 'n Tail Detangler on dogs? I have a large dog with a long thick coat which is difficult to brush. I use a rake but thought I could do a better job if I sprayed him.

I don’t use it on my short haired dog, but love using it on my horse. Supposedly it doesn’t have any silicones, so you don’t get that Amor-All feeling, and it won’t dry out the hair. I won’t use silicones in my own hair. It makes the hair soft, not slippery like others.

We don’t brush much except after bathing. I use Chris Christensen’s Just Divine brushing spray if I’m doing any dry brushing. It really helps with tangles and keeps the coat in better shape. Anything like mane and tails should work just fine.

I was just a bit concerned because it is intended for horses. Wasn’t sure if it was OK to use on dogs.

Well Cat Tap if your dog suddenly starts chewing on hay and longing for carrots you have your answer haha!

I have never used it on dogs, however one of my dogs had to have abdominal surgery because he was blocked from eating hay. Current dog gets a huge carrot each night. He loves them.

If you already have it; I would use it without worry. I use a variety of horse products on my dogs. If you were thinking of buying it, there might be better products to use for that purpose.

i’ve used Mane N Tail, and also Cowboy Magic on my double coated dogs for brushing and also for blow drying after bathing to help make the undercoat slippery so it will blow out more easily.

I don’t use it that often, but it’s been effective in the past.

There are leave in conditioners. Never had a very hairy dog, but the leave-in conditioners even make permed hair easy to comb.

My mom used it on me all the time when I was a kid. Your dog will be fine.

Lots of humans use mane n tail products. I’ve used the shampoos on our Corgis with no problems
