Manni01 asked: Is it ok to talk bad about banned posters?

Since Manni01 hijacked my thread, apparently unwilling to start her own, and got it locked:

Manni01 asked: “Is it ok to talk bad about banned posters??? I know the board rules require polite discussions, but after somebody is banned its ok to call him/her a witch or other bad words?? Just wanted to clarify.”

I assume she is looking for a moderator to answer.

Maybe the Moderator answered, privately?

Sorry your thread was hijacked, but why bring that up?

Was the purpose of your locked thread satisfied already by then?
Do you want to bring that topic back out?

If so, go ahead, we will give it a try again.

Best is to just ignore some posters.

Don’t engage, don’t answer, don’t stalk, don’t bother. Life is too short!

Good advice, as always.

OP, just rephrase what your question was, we will give it a try.

And why, just why is it ok to talk bad about anyone… banned or not??

In my book, it isn’t but sure sounds like some people thing banned is fair game :frowning:

Not sure what the purpose of this thread is.

And OP it was never my intention to get your thread closed, I apologize that that happened, and by the way it was not my question which got the thread closed but the posts of some posters who just like to create train wrecks, no matter what…

And yes, my question got an answer if you look into the thread which I was asking about…

That’s not very nice. You don’t know what motivates some people to post, you’re making an assumption.

Some might even say that comment was mean, and should be reported.

Compared to our new standard of mean: “Ding, dong, the witch is dead.” that comment is clearly unacceptable.

To invoke the TOS, that comment was not productive, on topic or civil.

Yes I probably make assumptions, but congratulations, you did a great job in the last thread and you are up to a good start already in this one…

Also not nice.

Also not on topic, productive or civil.

If you’re going to set posting policy on this board, the very least you could do is abide by it.

Ok you are right all the way.

And because I answered all the questions of the OP anyhow in my first post, I am out of this thread now.

The mods deleted ALL talk of that poster, so yeah, that tells us that they do not want us to talk about it, period.

It’s a shame, since I would have no knowledge of this banned poster had I not seen that, which made me very happy to know.

In general we don’t want users hashing out debate re: moderation activity on the site, because, by nature, that’s going to get into personal commentary about individual posters vs. discussing the topics at large. If someone’s access has been removed. that problem has been addressed, so time to move on down the road vs. perpetuating the drama surrounding someone that has evidently been an issue in one way or another.

As someone noted upthread, regardless of perceived provocation, we shouldn’t be engaging in personal commentary about each other, so regardless of whether or not that poster still has access, we should not be indulging in that type of commentary.

We handle most of the moderation behind the scenes, as we don’t want to further feed into any dramatics unfolding on the public site.

Thanks,
Mod 1
