Manufacturers of tack/clothing: here is what I would love to buy, but cannot find ...

I know a number of reps for big and small tack and clothing manufacturers are on this site. Maybe we can give them some market research into what we would like to see at the tack shops.

I would love to get some sun shirts (long-sleeved, moisture-wicking, UPF50) in colors other than pastels. I look best (and so does horsey) in deep, saturated jewel tones. I know summer lends itself to lighter colors, but I would love a deep green or dark red shirt to ride in.

Anyone have something on their horsey wish list?

Thank you. I am also not a pastel girl, and that current trend makes me bonkers.

Mine would be that boot companies (I’m looking at you Mountain Horse) realize that you can be very tall and not a twig. I’m lusting after their new sovereigns, but their tall height only comes in slim, which I am not. And while I’m at it, make your talls taller. My Der Daus, custom, are 21 1/2 inches tall. Most “talls” are 19-20 inches.

Breeches with pockets big enough for a smart phone that fit my flat bummed posterior and straight hips, and don’t show every imperfection. A summer version and a winter version. Mid rise so I don’t get plumber’s butt. Darker colors because they are slimming

All jackets should have zipper pockets

Boots that fit my high arches and don’t give me heel blisters, slim/tall please.

Helmet with a wider visor to keep the sun off of my face at an affordable price.

I’d love it if Kerrits would bring back their Peplum jacket.

A clone of my old HDR Rivella close contact saddle without the cracked leather seat…

That’s it for now

Have you tried going to an outdoor/running store? I feel like I have a whole closet full of what you are looking for, can’t stand pastels!

That being said, my wishlist item is a saddle pad that resembles the straps of my backpack in that it is totally breathable but also comfortable and supportive. I have seen saddle pads similar, but they never hit every criteria. If im going to break the bank on a pad it needs to be perfect!

Agree with DressageOverFences. Nike and UnderArmor are great for moisture wicking shirts in non-pastel and non-bright colors. I have a beige-ish shirt that looks fantastic with French Blue breeches, many shades of grey, maroon, a deep, forest green. I just collect over the years!

I ride a bright, copper chestnut so I’d say 75% of the sun shirts made by horsey companies are clashtastic for us!

Yeah, don’t shop for these at horse stores, go to REI or the like. I’m addicted to the Patagonia Capilenes and have a whole bright rainbow of those in midweight for fall/spring. Sadly, the lighweight summer ones are not zip necked, but if you are OK with crewneck, there is a summerweight version. I have one in BRIGHT pink, they last forever.

Helly Hansen. Generally pastel isn’t their thing (occasionally some light blues.) I live in their Lifa Flow 1/2 zips year round- but they’re marketed as a baselayer (I do wear a fleece over them in winter) and look more athletic than say an EIS or Kastel sunshirt. It doesn’t say UV protection on the website but the tags do. http://shop.hellyhansen.com/us/item/w-hh-active-flow-1-2-zip-48294 (I have the pink glow, it’s BRIGHT, also have a nice blue-purple and some other jewel tones)

Downside to HH is that their bottoms have no hip room. My cousin loves them since she’s built like an inverted triangle but to fit my rear the waist is like a hula hoop.

Less low rise breeches, full stop. I am VERY long through the hips/waist and low rise breeches make me feel like my pants are going to fall off… but all the cute, fashionable breeches only come in a low rise! shakes fist

Good tall height boots for people with tiny feet.

I gave up on equestrian-branded sunshirts. I like black and grey; colours in general are really not my thing unless they’re subdued and so now I buy all my short-sleeved UV shirts at Target and long sleeved ones at sports stores!

Ok, you can laugh at me but I want this:

But in a black, ‘wind jacket’ material at about half the price. Just to hold my phone while I’m riding in case I hit the ground and need assistance.

I have very jewl toned blue sun shirt from irideon and a black and red one from castel

I may need to start another thread, as I’m Queen-sized and that comes with a whole lot of apparel issues.

  1. Cooling vest w pockets for summer riding (soak-in-water, not inserts). Light grey, or ice blue.

  2. Ice fil type breeches in plus size. Dark or medium grey.

  3. Sleeveless, cool cotton shirt w/kangaroo pocket. Tailored, not boxy; long enough to be flattering but short enough not to get stuck under butt in the saddle. Silver grey, ice blue, or chartreuse.

I don’t have the problem with tall boots being too short, but what drives me nuts about the Sovereigns is that the foot is SO HUGE. I ordered a pair in size 10W, my normal size, and amazingly enough they fit my 17+" calf, but they were gigantic in the foot. Like at LEAST 1.5" too long. It was ridiculous. Seriously, Mtn. Horse, make boots in XW like you used to with the Richmond High Riders. Those were nice boots.

Also, can more breeches be made in sizes above a 32 or 34??? And in cute, fun colors and/or with piping and other fun features?

Paddock boots for women that go beyond size 10 medium. I wear a 10.5 Men’s paddock boot and there is no variety at all. I can get any color I want, as long as I want black.

Full seat breeches in fun colors (I admit, I loved the neon Tuff Riders. Alas, no full seats). If I can have whatever I want, I want navy blue breeches with a lime green full seat. Love that color combo…

A better selection of bits in 4 3/4", please. 4 1/2" is too small; 5" is too big. And a mullen-mouth Baucher that I don’t have to import from Europe in a 4 3/4"

Helmets that look like velvet hunt caps and don’t cost a fortune

A Western saddle with fenders that are set far enough back to actually put my leg underneath me instead of a chair seat and isn’t super wide in the twist (or whatever it’s called Western), on semi-QH bars.

My list? Wide/X wide calf tall boots that are actually extra wide. A lot of hem are only 15 inches unless you have a size 10+ foot.

Full seat breeches that wick moisture but don’t emphasize every ripple and bump (I’m looking at you Ice-Fil!)

Use mine while I’m out on the trails, super lightweight!

Yes and yes.

Oh hell yes. How is 15" extra wide? My right calf is 16.5" at it’s widest point. And I’m not huge- I’m 5’2" and wear a size 12. Short but average build. Just weirdly wide calves (calfs?).

Try to find an old (it’ll be real old…) Balanced Ride saddle. Mine was made by Longhorn, but I think there were a few manufacturers that did them.
