Marathon Pony Carts?

Can anyone recommend a versatile, light marathon cart for a 12.1 Welsh pony? Preferably carts that could be shipped to Canada. Thanks!

Are you looking for something 2-wheeled?

Preferably four-wheeled, actually!

You might want to consider again re 4 or 2 wheels for a small single pony.

Heavier and more drag for a small pony.

I personally won’t build or sell 4 wheelers for use with a single that size.

Russ Hardwick who manufactures the Puddlejumpers over in Ocala/Silver Springs area made a ultra light pony marathon carriage for Sami Orem a couple of years ago. She was competiting with her first pony, Pita, a Hackney.

Sami has a site her dad created for her. There is a picture of the carriage and thepony going into the water hazard at GA CDE a couple of years ago. I rode on the carriage as her gator. Sorry but I don;t remember the name of her site.

Teamsami something or another. or Team orem., can someone help me out? CRS!!

I don’t even know what CRS stands for. Does that mean I have it too?

chukkerchild-- this is a page of photos–look at top right corner photo. That is the one I was speaking of http://www.teamsam.net/picturegallery/friends4.html

There is another with the carriage inthe background–it has a photo of Sami and Russ Hardwick.

Hope this helps

If I didn’t suffer from CRAFT I could probably tell you what CRS stands for

cc - I drive my 12.1 hand 500 lb pony to a WCC Batmobile - a 120 model. It weighs 296 lbs and I LOVE it! So does my pony. Very well-balanced and handles like a dream. I don’t think I’ve ever had a wheel come off of the ground and I’m not exactly a timid driver  even if I am an old lady

Great marathon carriages

Shelley Rekow of Pleasurethyme Farmhttp://http://www.pleasurethymefarm.com/index.shtml imports Kutzmann carriages from Poland. They’re affordable and very nice to drive. I love mine!

Is she still in business? I have heard rumors plus she hasn’t responded to my emails and I heard she was not at a couple of shows where she was scheduled.

We like our Kutzmann, too, except for the paint (which seems to chip off if you just sneeze on it as it’s not powder coated). Hubby really likes driving it with his horse and our trainer made a pole for it so I can drive my ponies to it. I love the way it handles

I have to second the Hardwick Puddle Jumper! We have 2 hackney’s (13.1h) and went with the regular pony sized carriage. We couldn’t be happier with it! It’s sturdy, lightweight, well balanced, and Russ gives GREAT service. Although it is hard to find one used and he does have a waiting list but it is WELL worth the time/money. We looked at several well known brands, but after trying them, and then the PJ we went with the PJ, it has lots of the bells and whistles everyone looks for but is very well priced and Russ is a super guy who goes out of his way to make sure your happy!
We have seen Sami’s ultra light, which seems to work very well for the smaller guys. Russ has even made a smaller version for mini’s he calls that the “Tad Pole” !!

Kutzmann

I’d have to agree with you about the paint, I’ve noticed it chips off very easily! Despite that, I think it’s a good value for the price. I couldn’t afford a Kuhnle!

marathon carriage

I love my Tidaholm. Definately suitable for a 12.1 pony.
I have smashed and bashed it plenty and it still looks good other than the pinstriping that has been scraped off.

It has recieved high marks from professionals who have driven it as well.

I ordered it through Wake Robin Carriages in Canada. Took a bit of time and effort to effect the importation but I consider it well worth it as it really fits my horses.

There are plenty of photos of it on my website

I am Shelly’s dealer for Canada.
If you want to see pictures and specs
have a look at my web site.

I have sold several Mini Feel X’s to people with little guys.
They all just love them.
If you look at the Mini Wagonette page you will see an 11.2 hooked up
The carriage is about the same height.
