Mare constantly kicking fence... (PSSM question)

Hmmmmm. See my new topic about oil and PSSM horses. Not sure about Canola oil (Goober was on vegetable oil) but I am now trying to find out of oil makes a difference in horses. If you have it available, put her on Legend Omega Plus instead of oil. It made an enormous difference to Da Goobs within 3 days

But, then again, I might be hearing hoofbeats and thinking zebras.

Most ā€œvegetableā€ oil is all or mostly canola oil.

From what I understand those are only for stall kickers, and not meant to be used during turnout. Plus I do really feel strongly that there is an underlying cause and don’t want to punish her for something she is likely not doing voluntarily or out of spite.

HIgh levels of Omega-6s can cause issues. I went with canola because it has the lowest omega-6s of any of the easily purchased oils. I doubt that that is what is causing her problems, because she is riding just fine.

Most of the ā€œmade for horsesā€ fat supplements are prohibitively expensive for the amounts that PSSM horses need. :frowning:
