Mare not standing for live covering despite showing a seemingly good season

Hi All, I’m hoping some of you breeding afficionados can advise. I have a 7yr old mare who produced her first foal in 2012. Live cover toward end of breeding season, because I have to judge her ovulation by the stallion’s behaviour I try to cover no more than 2 to 3 times max, she needed no hormone shots, nothing. All went 100% well.
This year I decided quite late on in the season to breed her (I am in the southern hemisphere so our breeding season is ending now). I teased her toward the end of her last heat and she wasn’t receptive to the stallion despite him being very keen.

He is experienced and will not try to mount a mare unless she is ready and he does not make mistakes (even with mares recently in foal who seem receptive - he KNOWS!
So I realised I had probably caught the season too late and she’d probably ovulated 12 or so hours before, so judging from the day which I thought she ovulated, I kept on teasing every 2nd day until the next heat.

Stallion didn’t try to cover her until 3 days ago when by his behaviour I could see she was going to ovulate. She would not let him cover her despite almost soliciting him, and literally ran off despite having been squatting and urinating and seeming ready. He was almost beside himself to cover her. She is very calm, likes the stallion (they are in opposite fields every day so well used to each other) and teases very well. However this year she just will NOT stand for covering. In 2012 she was dead easy: squatted and stood solidly for covering.
I am perplexed because the stallion never makes a mistake and she seems to be having a normal season. In fact, it would seem she is probably ovulating today judging by her and the stallion’s behaviour when I teased this this morning.

I’ve read online articles re prostaglandin / lutalyse not working for various reasons and so forth but do not know what to do now. It’s getting on in the season and I do not have a vet I’m able to call out to scan on a regular basis in fact they may not even be able to get here in time to scan when needed.
Can I chance it with a Lutalyse shot? Advice please!

Are you hand breeding or pasture breeding? Have you tried simply sedating the mare a bit prior to covering her with the stallion once he is telling you she’s ready?

When I did my own hand breeding to outside mares, I had one mare owner who told me in advance and dropped the mare off with a sedative to use once she was showing good receptivity to the stallion as she, while she was an experienced broody, would not stand for cover without sedation. Trusting the mare owner, I did exactly that, the mare stood when sedated, was breed and got in foal easily.

I have had one mare who would not stand due to a ovarian tumor. Despite being drugged so she could barely move. Had another who just needed a cc of ace.
