Marshall and Sterling

I was wondering if anyone can tell me about these classes? I don’t know anything about them in terms of what they are like. To my knowledge there are none right here around us, but we may be moving back to PA and I know there are some that the barns we’ve looked at go to. I was just wondering from a practical experience in people on COTH that go to them what they are like in the junior classes? Are they good preparation for other medal classes? How do any points count? And where do these fall in terms of level of showing? Sorry for all the questions… Where we are now the trainer doesn’t really know anything about them. We feel like we’re on our own investigating a lot of stuff. It’s not always so easy.
Thank you

If you go on the HITS.com site it will have a link to M&S where the rules are listed. The classes are usually a classic format. They are available in hunters and jumpers at various height levels. The points qualify you to compete in the M&S finals in Saugerties in September. the finals are in the grand prix ring which can be fun to ride in. also these classes are held at unrated shows as well as rated ones, so it’s an opportunity for some who don’t want to compete at rated shows to work towards a final. The finals are expensive, but they offer decent prize money.

You have to pay a fee to M&S to have yourpoints count for M&S standings and awards. They generally are just M&S points that are added to the exsisting USEF rated classes, not stand alones. Obviously, Finals are members only but qualifying classes rated or not, are generally open to everybody, just no points for non members.

That’s kind of a Cliff notes, simplistic explanation but you get the idea.
