I have a standing martingale and bought a rubber stop to go with it. Attempted to put it on and snapped the stop. The martingale is thick and flat. Anybody have suggestion on a rubber stop that will fit a flat standing martingale?! I purchased a Roma brand rubber stop.
Only thing I can think of is to put the stopper in very warm water and stretch it out a bit before putting it on. Is it an old martingale?
Use dish soap.

I use boiling water on bit guards/martingale stops and it makes a massive difference.
Warm the stop in hot water, then use a pair of needle nose pliers to hold it open while feeding the “standing” part through, then unbuckle the neck strap and feed it through. If the above doesn’t help, saddle soap the straps, giving yourself some dry ends to hang onto.
I bought stops from Dover, and they’re a pretty good pliable rubber. You may want to try them. I didn’t have to do any boiling or stretching on them.
