Martin's Spring Auction will be Friday only

For those of us who religiously attend Martins, spring and fall, on Saturday “field day”, we will now only have the memories of the bargains we scored on a nice vehicle or harness we just had to buy, or whip or… There is no Saturday sale this year. I called yesterday, being April 1st and the Martins flyer had said a decision would be made in April ( I thought April 1st was at least April.) Paul Martin said they regret to say but no Saturdays anymore. Cited lack of help as a main factor as well as numerous other reasons. (People bringing their box lots of basically junk that cost more to sell than what it sold for, when you consider the overhead)

Makes me sad, I always thought of it as a such a fun social outing. The Martin family has always run an event so respected in the driving world, it was the Holy Grail for drivers from all over North America and beyond. I am fortunate to be a local and always able to attend. I hope the Friday sale this year will be spectacular and see you there.

It is a maybe for us. We “deserve” a fun day after this winter we had! However it depends on having a farm sitter. I was also saddened to hear it being cut to one day, but they have to make money or go out of business. I remember when they cut it back to a 2 day sale, years ago. We could not believe it, they sold SO MUCH, why would they do that? Maybe they are worn out.
