Masterson Method "Dressage Horse Optimized" book?

Starting to dive into some Masterson Method stuff a little deeper. I have his “Beyond Horse Massage” video, but wanted something to bring to the barn for some of the more complicated techniques, and stumbled across this dressage-specific book:

“The Dressage Horse Optimized with the Masterson Method: Developing and Preserving the Equine Athlete through Effective, Sport-Specific Bodywork” (ebook version)

Anyone read/used it? Looks like it’s out of print so it’s a little pricey on Amazon (can’t seem to find it elsewhere, other than that e-book, but I’d prefer a hard copy).

Alternatively, anyone have any good bodywork book recommendations? Not replacing professional bodywork, just supplementing. I already have “Beating Muscle Injuries for Horses” (but admit it’s been a while since I’ve reviewed that one).

I have it and yes I take it to the barn when working on my horses. Have you tried contacting them,https://mastersonmethod.com/contact/, to see if they have any copies?

Check out the book Physical Therapy for Horses. I also really like “Acupressure for Horses.”

I have the Dressage Horse Optimized book and DVD, but don’t really use them for practicing Masterson Method (I also have both the DVDs and the book, and have taken their weekend and online classes).

That’s a good idea, I’ll reach out to them, thanks!

I’m only seeing the regular Masterson’s book on there, not the dressage-specific one :frowning:

Ah - post not terribly clear :slightly_smiling_face:

This one ? (Ebook)

You’re right, that wasn’t very clear, was it? I hate when people only put details in the title as I often don’t read those too closely

Updated now for readability

Thanks for the B&N link, as that is MUCH cheaper! I was hoping for something in a spiral-bound book as those tend to be more barn-friendly, but I suppose maybe if I like it I can send it to the printers and have them bind it exactly how I want it (and probably still come out ahead!).

Edit: looks like the ebooks are only for Nook devices/apps, not a pdf download. Not sure how that’s going to work.

You might like “Is Your Horse 100%?” by Margret Henkels. It is also spiral bound. She talks about conformation balancing with fascia work. I find it very helpful, along with Jim Masterson’s works.

That sounds interesting! My WB mare seems to have tight fascia - kinesiotaping is helping her a lot, but I might need to grab that book.

I just googled a video and it popped up for free! I needed help with TMJ on my PRE. So far it is helping release it before I ride.

Oh sure, I just hate working off my phone (it’s so small) or iPad (feels so fragile around the horses). It feels anachronistic but I much prefer an ol’ fashioned book!

Maybe this book will force my hand, though…
