For all the tarnish on this horse (added by trainer, owners, etc.) I think this is a darned good, game horse.

One of the things I liked the best about watching the race on TVG yesterday was on a pre-race spot about Maximum Security and everything he’s gone through in his racing career. Followed by the observation that he really has done nothing wrong… it’s been the people around him.
I know many are not Baffert fans but he gets the job done often with good horses (I get it, he gets good horses to start with). Yesterday, maybe for one of the few times in Maximum Security’s career, no cloud over his head, no long stressful flights, a nice training regimen up to a well run race.
He’s still not my personal favorite, but to me, felt like a nice win where he just did his job to the best of his ability.
