Maya Delores compression breeches

I feel silly asking this, but with the trend in Hunters being Equiline and similar breeches, are compression type breeches with different seam lines show appropriate?

I have a pair of Vestrum breeches currently that are fine, but my skin does not do well on hot weather and I’ve been looking into trying Maya Delores, but the thigh seams are not very traditional looking to me and I don’t know if that will look weird while in the ring.

I doubt you can really see them under a jacket and 50 feet away in the judges booth

Edit: I Googled and see they have a curved seam across the front upper thigh. Other than that they are totally like every other breech out there. I don’t think from the side at a distance anyone would even see. Also the judges aren’t looking at these details.

Nobody cares, enjoy your breeches! Thanks for introducing me to a new brand.

I keep looking at them because I’ve seen them recommended in various COTH posts but when I saw their birthday sale yesterday, it was a great incentive to finally try a pair.

Literally no one cares unless you’re walking into the WEC Cup or Maclay Finals. In that case, wear the uniform, but otherwise, you do you within the traditional format.

I’m an eventer so I have no idea if they’re appropriate for the hunter ring, but I have two pairs of MD compression breeches and ADORE THEM. They’re so comfortable and flattering in every single way. They were having a 30% off everything sale a few days ago, it might still be going on, even if you just get them for schooling, so worth giving them a try.

I do know they have a show tan color option so if you want to show in them you can get the appropriate color.

FWIF I’m old, so I’d never be in that ring. I’m just crotchety I guess about things not being just so. In hot weather my Vestrum breeches make holes in my skin when combined with heat and sweat and I have to patch myself back together with bandaids to keep riding. So I feel like I should be less crotchety.

Try the Samshield breeches! I love them. I’ve pretty much replaced all my show breeches and some schooling with them. They’re light enough for FL, but hold their style and form, so they age quite nicely. If you’re getting rubs or holes, look into light spanx (like skimz)… target has a few brands. Not only do they smooth out all the bumps and lumps, but they add a layer in between you and the tack!

I have 4 pairs of Horse Pilot breeches that I love, but I’ve not been able to find a tan pair in my price range. I’ve bought all of my pairs on sale. I haven’t tried Samshield, but will definitely look into them

Normally I would say no one cares BUT I personally bought the Maya Delorez compression breeches and while I adore every other color, something about the beige ones specifically makes me feel like I look completely naked in them. Obviously, your mileage very much may vary, but for me that particular color was an absolutely not.

Thank you for this input!

I can’t speak of the compression breeches, but I have multiple pairs of the function and performance breeches and they are absolutely fabulous, and I love how cool they are for summer riding.

100% recommend the Maya Delorez compression. They’re heaven.

I’ve been influenced by this thread.

That is all

I waffled for too long and missed the sale. I got on the site to order last night and the sale had ended since the site is on Europe time, not US time.

I looked on their website and I thought the light beige and beige colors are so pretty but I would hate having those polka dots plastered all over my ass!

Yeah, let’s draw even MORE attention to that area…

If you have a bit of a jiggly belly (thanks, menopause!) how do these do? I’m getting to be a bit apple shaped, which makes fitting my waist and my legs in one pair of breeches difficult (fit my waist, the legs are too loose-- fit my legs, and the waist is too tight. Sigh!)

And, yes, I’d like tan for the show ring. Are they really that ‘nude’ looking? Which model would be most appropriate?

May I ask what compression breeches do? I get they compress. Is it for fatigue? Or is there some heat transfer quality? I have EGO 7 compression-like socks that I wear under my boots which keep my muscles and feet from feeling fatigued. I’m wondering if compression breeches do the same. Thanks.

I rode in my new pair this past weekend. The material is fairly thick and when I pulled them out of the package I thought no way will these fit my waist.

They are surprising stretchy and do compress some of the jiggly bits. And they were not as hard to peel off after a lesson in pretty hot and humid air as I expected they might be.

I quite like them!
