I am headed out tomorrow to explore this area. I’ve ridden here once year ago with LOMH and I’ve checked out what I can find online, but other than that I don’t have much info. I did find that I’m supposed to park next to the basketball court so I’m hoping that the basketball court is obvious LOL! So anyone familiar with the area? Any tips etc? Anyone want to join me?
Would love to join you but I don’t think I’d make it even if I left now!! Little problem of working all weekend too. When I’m up that way I usually ride Fair Hill. Should be beautiful tho’…hope you find everything and have a great ride…
Patapsco is on my list of places to try. I’ve got a lesson and prepping for a show today though. I wish I could go. I think that I’ve got a map for it that I bought online along with some other Maryland park maps last year.
I used to park and ride from McKeldin quite a lot. Have been planning on going there to ride soon but I can’t make it this weekend. I can give you directions to the parking area.
After you stop at the entrance kiosk to pay your day use fee you will bear to the right to drive down the main road. The road will eventually curve to the right and slightly downhill, you will pass a small road that goes off to the left. In front of you on the left is the basketball court. Just in front of it is a narrow gravel road on the left. Turn left onto this gravel road. The trailer parking area is the mowed grass shoulder area on the left side of this gravel road. Drive down the road a little way to the wider turn around area then drive back towards the paved road on the grass shoulder and park.
It is polite to others if you will pull well ahead and leave room for others to use the turn around are and park behind you. The shoulder is very wide and trailers can park two abreast.
If it has been raining the management will ask horse trailer owners to not park on the grass. There is a paved parking lot at the end of the paved road that can be used. Just be sure to park in such a way that cars will not block you in.

You can buy a trail map at the front gate too which is really useful. You may be able to find one online for free- I’m not sure.
McKeldin is a fun place to ride so I’m sure you’ll have a great time!
Sent you a PM
Too late to this thread, but beware the parking area! It doesn’t dry out very quick, we had one trailer get stuck days after a rain.
Hope you had a fun ride!
