MDC stirrups vs Jin Stirrups

I need to buy my first pair of stirrups and I was very interested in the wide tread that MDC and Jin stirrups have. I also love the twisty top on the MDC ones. But through my research it seems like people prefer Jin’s to MDC. In pictures they seem like they have the same tread but the MDC looks more classic, has the twisty top, and are cheaper. Has anyone ridden in both and could tell a difference in the feel of them? I would also just love your opinions if you have either of them!

I haven’t ridden in Jins but I have the MDC wide tread with the S-shaped top and I LOVE them in comparison to other irons I’ve had. I’ve used wide tread composites, HS jointed stirrups, knock-off jointed stirrups, traditional irons and these are by far my favorite. I don’t have the ankle/knee/back pain I used to and my leg and heel are much more secure.

I have owned both and much prefer the Jins. I had the MDCs with the S top which I thought would be helpful with my bad habit of turning my toes out over fences. I think they made it worse and I found them not as grippy as my Jins. I found I was fiddling with the MDCs a lot to adjust my foot placement and with my Jins I don’t have to do that.I didn’t feel as stable O/F in the MDCs either.

I have the MDCs with the S top and love them. I’m 5’3", have smallish feet and found that the eye on the model with the 0/45/90 rotation tended to jam into my shin.

Love my MDCs, twisted out 45º. I do have a bad ankle and bought these to help alleviate some of the pain after ankle surgery. Now I don’t like to ride in any other saddle that has other stirrups. Love them.

I heard great things about the MDCs but like #vanessa I found myself eternally fiddling with my foot placement. I went back to my old Sprengers with cheese grater pads. Goodbye $200. Can’t help with the Jins.

I have the least fiddliness with my MDCs. I have tried both, and the Free jumps, and love the MDCs. But everyone seems to have a different preference so maybe you could borrow someone’s to try?

I’ve had the classic mdc style and the Jinns. I just sold the MDC ones because I think the jinns made my leg more stable. Buying them, I thought they would be about the same but the first ride I was sold! They are less traditional but I do the jumpers so I don’t mind at all. I’d try both if you can, I know MDC offers a free trial.

I’ve had both. I find the main difference is weight. I ended up keeping the jins because I liked the lightness of them (the MDCs are heavy). The S top was cool though!
