Measuring for new fenders

I inherited a lovely saddle that fits me and my pony beautiully…except the fenders…

After punching a couple more holes in the leathers, they are still a hole or two too long for me. Luckily, being roughout, they would be easy enough to replace with something that matches close enough vs if my saddle were smooth and a unique shade.

But looking at replacements I’m seeing measurements like youth, 12", 14", barrel, and adult. But not a lot of info as to how these lengths were found.

So if I have an inseam of 27", what am I looking at for fender length? I feel like youth would be too short, but what I assume are currently adult are too long.

Thoughts?

I can’t help you on length (I also have a 27" inseam, so I feel your pain), but you can probably find someone to cut down the fenders you already have. You’ll essentially get custom fenders then. I just bought a saddle to which this had already been done by the previous owner, and you’d never know unless you were specifically looking for it.

I agree ^^ Take your saddle to a saddle maker and they should be able to alter the fenders so that they go short enough for you.
