Medallists Party Together after Team Medal Ceremony

“the medallists traveled back to their Riverside Regal hotel for an evening of celebration and partying. The Dutch camp gathered in the Holland Olympic Club and one floor down, the Germans and Danes were feasting together. Later on in the evening, the Dutch came down one floor and it became a communal party where the riders were no longer competitors but friends.”

To funny, hope they keep their day jobs… Who is the guy dancing(if that’s what you call it:) in front of the camera?

You are sooooo cynical!!! OK, there was a camera, but there was also a lot of impromptu dancing and hugging and good feelings. And dancing and singing along to “We are the champions”. Maybe it was staged. But the feeling in the room was warm and fuzzy (despite the sub-zero air-con prevalent in HK).

I was actually there. And it was very fun. Possibly the most fun I had in Hong Kong. The posher Olympic Village Hotel (on the other side of the river) had no soul, and apparently had the ambience of a railway station (or a nunnery, according to various reports).

The Regal Riverside cost us $50 (Australian) each per night including brekky, and was the best value! Not many Americans. Lots of Media, Grooms, Extra Officials and Reserve Riders. We could walk to the Sha Tin venue in 15 minutes easy.

Will post pix of Isabel, Anky, Heike, Nadine and the Danish Team having fun if I can figure out how.

Whoa pull on the reins my friend it was a joke…:lol::lol:

I guess the joke is that most of us could not dance, let alone in an orange suit - and real wooden clogs!

And more importantly, we could not dance upon Salinero. I was prepared to be disapproving, but I loved him. He and Satchmo were above and beyond.

But I am pleased about Balagur, Ravel and Mythilus and Vincent and Relampango in the Special.

Bring on the Kur!

I loved it they looked like they were having a blast…

Eventing gold medalist

is the guy dancing on the video. Hinrich Romeike, a dentist, got the individual (and team) gold in eventing.

Yes, the dentist has rhythm !

dance off

More proof that white people can’t dance:winkgrin:
Horse people are always ackward out in the real world.
But they were having fun-much deserved.

pruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuust,

Snow White got moves, thats Hinni, shaken it.

Good for them.

They need to get some of the teams from Eastern Europe and South America over there…someone needs dance lessons, stat.

That, or they need more drinks! That makes anyone’s dancing better.

oh no. If that is what it looked like at the dressage party, you can only imagine what it looked like after the eventing!!

We didn’t want to know, so went to the Ladies’ Market look at cheap knock-offs of Gucci etc.

Apparently there are images on Youtube that boggle one’s mind…

And this is, of course, right after I was just telling one of my guy friends equestrians are the best dancers by far… wow hope he doesn’t find that little gem LOL. Good for them though for having a night out. My future roomie and I had been talking about what fun it would be to go clubbing in Beijing with the US men’s gymnastics team.
