She walked out the side door of the clinic, lol. It was brutally hot, but our trailer is very open. Load and go. Straight inside the clinic. Then load and go home. Moving horses in heat is nerve wracking, but she did great. No delays loading
So glad you have some answers and a plan! Sorry she has some rotation, but glad prognosis is good for her to have a job! She’s such a sweetie.
(On a separate note…: Mine is very insecure, but loves the vet hospital. I think she’s innately curious and likes to see all the “happenings”! Maybe Matilda does too!)
I think I see some curves on that frame?
It’s a bad angle, but the rump looks round not slopey!
I bet she was so relieved when she arrived back at your farm instead of being moved on somewhere else!
I have shelter dogs (aka municipal pound puppies) and always feel guilty the first few times they have to be left at the vet because you just know they’re think they’ve been abandoned again.
This is real good information to have.
Once she gets to full bloom, and she has had some time for the Equioxx to really give sustained relief, I wouldn’t be surprised if she could do more than just light trail stuff, especially with a child. Our kid’s gelding had/has ringbone. He was a former cutter when we got him for our then-12yo son. Good hoof management, Equioxx and a reasonable exercise regimen meant that horse and kid did all sorts of cool things together. He even went on to do a couple low-key local cutting contests with a teenaged friend on board.
Our kiddo is now 22 and lives far away. The horse is 25, pasture fit, sassy, happy and retired. He gets by with just half an Equioxx these days, except on shoeing days and periodically when it gets very cold, he’ll get a whole pill.
In my experience, a good farrier made a big difference to him…and our current super duper farrier has made even more of a positive impact.
A picture from tonight. I really need to do the weight tape again. Any guesses as to her weight?
The cones and ball are for Tony the mini donkey (we’re teaching him soccer).
She did look relieved. Cute thing.
Shes stolen your heart, hasn’t she?
Yep
We need some prayers for Maggie. She is going through a really bad Cushings episode. Prayers for our management strategies to work and/or the courage to let her go, if it’s time.
