It’s a funny thing about Matilda. She looks thankful for every little kindness. Little stuff, like putting her mask back on or checking her hay. She gives me a look like she’s saying thank you.

Okay, I guess. You know how much I hate posting pictures of them. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

She looks great! I love her medicine hat marking… and glad to see Maggie back to herself too.

Matilda was fitted for a saddle and bridle today. The saddle fit her nicely and she was perfect for saddling. At first. Then, she tossed her head several times. She wasn’t stomping or kicking, but tossing her head. It took a minute to figure it out. I looked her over carefully and spotted the rear saddle strings hanging down and barely touching her flanks. Those tickle! I tied them up and scratched her flanks and she was happy. Her bridle is from our good old QH gelding we had until he was put down for advanced navicular syndrome at 24. His cob head was similar to hers. The snaffle bit I used has copper. She happily mouthed the bit as our son led her around the trail on our farm. We’re treating her like a filly and going step by step to find holes in her training. She was great for tacking up and being led by the bridle. The only other thing we did today was had our son mount up and sit for a minute before praising her and dismounting. She stood nicely. That’s the extent of what we will ask of her until after her hoof trim next week. What a lovely mare.

I’ll bet she knows a lot. You have said before, she is a Lost Princess.

Is the punishment cookies or push ups?

Ask @jvanrens. I’m just the accountant. I’m not doling this stuff out.

Matilda had her feet trimmed again today. The vet was also present for boosters, which worked out well. She needed a little “happy juice” to get a really good trim. She’s been good about getting her hooves picked out and much more comfortable, but she is reluctant to bring her front hooves forward. She had front shoes when we bought her, but her hooves looked more carved than trimmed. Our farrier did his best, but couldn’t get her toes. I don’t know what the previous owners did, but it traumatized her. She got a proper trim and rolled front toes today.

She looks good, not like an orphan any more. :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks! She feels good. The vet and farrier took pictures of her, too. She’s been a group project.

Bet everyone is proud of what she looks now, compared with when she came in. :see_no_evil:

Glad they could fix her feet properly, every time there is no struggle you are ahead.
