Meet the U.S. Para-Equestrian Team

We just posted a video featuring the U.S. para-equestrian team.

It’s on the longer side, but is a great introduction to the athletes, their horses, and some of their personal struggles and goals. Link: www.ker.com/library/video/

If that one has audio issues, try: http://www.equinews.com/main/video

We at Kentucky Equine Research are very proud to sponsor this incredible team in their debut at WEG! Hope you enjoy!

Audio??

Was able to hear about 3 secs of audio, then silence. Dunno if it’s my computer or your video. Best of luck to all the Para-equestrians.

NO audio at all for me! :frowning:

Hmmmm. It works on this end, but we’ve been messing with it for awhile, so might have a cached version with better audio.

We’ll look into it! Thanks for letting us know!

no audio

I couldn’t hear anything either. Hope they get it fixed. Would love to watch it.

I know Kim Decker through her participation in CDCTA (yes, she hangs with eventers) and she is one terrific lady. Go Kim!

Oh, I’d love to watch, too! Hope you get the audio situation sorted out!

I can’t get it to work, either, but best of luck to the team! I was one of the people who helped when you were unloading and going through in barns, and I have to say that, world-wide, the para-equestrians were the ones who were the most demonstrative with their horses when they got off the semi’s or trailers. It was really cool to see the relationships between horse and rider.

Ahhh no sound still :frowning:

I did get to see my friend Erin, though, so yay! I’m so excited for her, and the entire team

No sound here, either. But thanks so much for sponsoring our talented paraequestrians!! I look forward to watching this at a later time.

Here in North Texas, we’ve been watching Jonathan work so hard! The horse community is really excited and proud of him!

Yay, I am rooting for Jonathan, too. I loaned him my horse last March to compete in the qualifier in Del Mar, CA when Richter came off the trailer funky.

Here is another Jonathan Wentz fan! Only 19 years old and named to the team competition. Everyone in Texas is so proud of Jonathan and his parents.

Sorry about the sound problems! We have re-uploaded the video and you can access it freely at KER’s website. We are sorry for the inconvenience!

I still don’t have sound. Tried it on both IE and Firefox.

I was able to hear the other videos, however.

@MareOne, Thanks for doing that, I understand it was a very nice horse:D

What a moving video - thanks for reposting it. (The sound now works for me.)

Thanks, Underthebridge! He is a good boy and VERY quiet, plus big enough for Jonathan, so perfect for a last minute substitute. If you are a “fan” of Jonathan’s on FB, that’s my horse in his profile pic.

KER has posted this video on our new website Equinews.com. We apologize for the audio problems.

Went to watch the paraequestrian and was very impressed by the quality of riding but baffled by the quality of judging. Not saying this as sour grapes – though I was disappointed our Americans didn’t get better scores on some of the very good rides they put in – but of the five judges, there would regularly be final scores ranging by 7-10 points, sometimes even more! There were no test rides, as far as I’m aware, to help the judges make sure they were on the same page, and it seemed the riders (of all countries) paid the price.
Dressage will always be subjective, but I can’t imagine how frustrating it must be to put in those years of work only to have one judge give you a 6, another give you a 7, and a third give you a ZERO … all on the same thing!

On the plus side, the Americans put in some solid performances that looked like good building blocks for the future. This was the first international competition for many of them; they’ve gotten some valuable mileage for the future. Onward and upward!
