Membership Required to Show in USEF/USHJA

So I should probably know this, but I have always been an active competitor previously. I let my USEF membership lapse because I was in between horses this year. I just bought my new fellow, but I am also currently expecting and do not plan to show before November (when the membership ends). However, I plan to have my trainer take my new horse into some classes (flat classes, maybe one division IF all goes well). Do I need to have an active USEF/USHJA membership as a non-riding owner for my horse to show?

Thanks!

I believe that you can pay a non member fee for each show. But the fee is about 1/3rd the cost of a yearly membership, so if you are planning to show in 3 or more shows, you might as well become a member.

Option is to show in local shows until Dec 1.

yes

No, you don’t. But you will have to pay an extra fee.

I leased a horse for a weekend at Ocala this spring. When I went to the office to do her paperwork, I had to pay an additional fee because the mare’s owner was not current on her USEF registration. I paid the fee - can’t remember if it was $40 or $60.

But I was so mad, I deducted it from the lease fee.

The show pass fee is $30 for USEF and $30 for USHJA for a total of $60 each show you go to. The membership for USEF and USHJA comes to $125. So, if you are going to go to more than two shows, you’re better off just joining.
