Men’s winter breeches recommendations?

Does anyone have good recommendations for men’s winter breeches? I think my husband’s Equissentials are giving up the ghost this year, and they’ve gone out of business so I can’t buy another pair.

I’m looking for ~ 40” waist, warm fabric and ideally a dark color. Full seats would be ideal, but not critical. I’m open on budget and willing to order internationally if needed.

I’ve looked at:

I did see Irideon had men’s fleece breeches - does anyone know how the sizing runs? My experience with their women’s breeches was that they ran extremely small.

Okay, this may sound weird, but I bought a pair of winter tights for my husband last year. They are women’s pull-ons. He only wears them at our home farm haha.

He’d probably be okay with women’s breeches/tights if it’s not super-obvious. Have you seen anything in a 40?

Only on sale. The ones I got him were Pipers I think, year end sale. The breeches are tougher as they are less forgiving than the tights, which are stretchy.

OOPs…you said in a SIZE 40? Or 40 bucks? I think the tights at least are more of S/M/L-type system. I think.

I’m up in that range. Tuffrider makes my daily-wear breeches and they run up to 46 in some models. The ones I have (the “Patrol”, fairly heavy cloth in a cotton/spandex mix) I find warm enough for year-round unless there’s a stiff wind, but they have fuzzy fleecy models too. (I got a zillion pairs a while back at year-end clearance prices and have no regrets.) I buy +2" from my jean size.

I’ve also borrowed a riding buddy’s Kerrit’s fleece tights and they were hella stretchy.

Hmmm… Kerrits has a 2XL in their fleece breeches that might work.

Would he wear a running tight/thermals under a normal breech? A lot of women I know at the barn do this rather than have a whole separate wardrobe of fleece breeches.

Also, I forgot to mention, I shop endurance tights for my husband. Shops specializing in endurance riding tend to have more men’s “tights”. I just noticed a winter pair and they come in the larger sizes. http://www.saddlebums.com/polmenractig.html

Thanks all! I ended up ordering a pair of men’s Pikeur winter breeches from the UK. They have a full range of men’s size options, and hopefully are as warm as they look.
