Mens Show Clothes

My Boyfriend has been riding with me some & we have schooling attire for him, but what about show attire?

We found him a show coat on clearance & he has tan breeches, tall boots, and a helmet. But do men wear the same style show shirts as women? With the zip necks? or something different?
Also I see men wearing Ties, are these typical ties you could find at any department store, or specialized?

Thanks for the help!

Yes, men wear different shirts. Here is a link for an example:

I’m pretty sure the ties are branded with the shirts? Unsure regarding the ties…but I’d probably find a “proper” equestrian name-brand one first and then if he needs another, see if you can match that?

Welcome to the wonderful world of showing, bf!

In the damp world of a small island off the coast of Europe, where show fashions are obviously different but, men often wear a normal shirt and tie under a show jacket. It allows for a bit of individuality. I suspect the tie evolved from equestrian fashion, as did the sport jacket.

Check out show jumping clothing because a lot of men do that.

Very common, I believe. And certainly more than acceptable for someone just starting out.

Have fun!

Just buy the typical men’s white dress shirt and tie.

Just a normal dress shirt and tie.
Men’s coats do button on the opposite side of women’s coats though, but I don’t think anyone notices on a moving horse and I’m not sure how much it matters?

It would be pretty tough to get a good fit for a man using a women’s coat. A basic sports coat works pretty well.
