Any ideas of what to use on the poles and bars for cushioning on metal round pens? Thx!
What are you trying to cushion it for?
Will animals be living in the area?
You could probably use tumbling mats or wall mats that the vet clinics use in their induction and recovery stalls. But I’d really wonder if a round pen is the right environment for whatever you’re doing if it needs padding. They’re usually not sturdy enough to take a full on body hit from a horse, and short of that…why are you padding it?
I don’t know why you need to pad the bars of a round pen but a whole bunch of pool noodles slit down one side and duct taped around the bars would probably work. Sounds like a lot of work tho
To save slitting you can just buy pipe insulation, it is already cut.
Pool noodles degrade out in the elements, too. I used them on the top of my dog kennel panels where the tarp goes over (it’s my chicken run) and they’re not doing well, and that’s even out of the sun.
Cushioning metal round pens isn’t a thing I’ve heard/seen anyone doing, is there a special purpose intended?
our round pen is wooden, nevertheless the current weanling fractured his nasal cavity by running into the metal gate… his inflatable toy play ball attacked him after he punched it
So, he has been moved into a pasture
