Hi! I’ll be moving to North Miami Beach shortly and was looking for a good trainer/facility for my adult hunter. I know traffic is huge consideration in this area - does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you!
Are you going to be on the island or mainland? Traffic is a huge issue.
Your main area with horses is Kendall. It’s going to be very expensive, and make sure you vet the boarding barn throughly; a lot of them do not have good care standards, are infested with cockroaches, and have unsafe conditions for the horses.
It’s been years since I boarded down there, but I’d recommend Tally Ho farm. There’s a few more recent places that have been built in the area that look nice too, but I have no experience with them.
You could also keep your horse in Davie or Southwest Ranches. It’s about a 30-45 minute drive (more in rush hour). But the turnout is going to be much better, the farms are generally nicer, and the prices are less. I’d also suggest living there too, but that’s just because I only enter Miami Dade County to drive through it to get away
Lastly, you could keep your horse up by Wellington area; the board will probably run the same as down in Miami/Kendall but the turnout is better and you have access to world class trainers while being a short trailer ride to WEF. That’s about a 1.5 hour drive.
Ill be on Bay Harbor Island (which I am guessing is not helping my cause)!
Super helpful - thank you! I’ve heard good things about Tally Ho Farm so will definitely check that out.
Unfortunately Karen has retired and Tally Ho has closed it’s doors. Elysian Stables is a very large operation in that area and has taken over the facility.
Next Level is good depending on you budget. Theres many i would stay away from though too. I’ve visited alot of the places after hours for work and well be careful of the men that promise you the world. lets call it that.
