Yet LL seems to think that LK and RG were renting the stable in much the same way as renting a garage. So the horses are like Kias?

Then this comment sounds like a creative argument I hadn’t heard before:

“…if she was paying the fee to have a stable accessible 24/7 and he cuts the hours down, shouldn’t she be reimbursed?”

Sounds like as creative an “agreement” as lifetime board and training being included in a horse purchase is…

A boarder pays by the hour?

That sounds like somebody who thinks they should pay less board for the month of February, since it’s a shorter month. Good luck with that.

In the list or another documentary there’s a statement by MB that it wasn’t boarding, it was training.

Yea but you will never convince the k’s that paying $5,000.00 per month for 4 horses was not highway robbery.

I still have to laugh at that idea. Or maybe snort with derision would be a better description.

Sounds like they’re just rather ignorant.

Or grasping at any conceivable straw.

Do any of you that board have a day that the stable is closed to boarders? A few stables by me are set up like this.

I know places that are closed to boarders on Mondays.

That way most of the help can get the day off, and the vet and the farrier can work on the horses without worrying about scheduling around ride times, etc.

It also works out well for the horses that show and get home Sunday night, since they will automatically have the day off on Monday.

I have never been anywhere that didn’t have at least 1 day closed.

Most of the training barns where I’ve been, Monday is usually a day off because of weekend shows. Although my trainer friend chose Thursdays.

I still like the idea of a barn as being like a garage. To extend that further, I guess that means the horses are vehicles. Lord knows there are days when mine rides like a truck.

I knew an operation years ago in Florida that was closed on Mondays. And they were very careful to send the key to the tack room home with somebody who had the day off on Monday.

So if anybody had the bright idea to show up and want to ride on a Monday, they had the option of riding bareback with a halter and lead rope, or waiting until Tuesday. Lol.

No but we only go late if we’re returning from a show or a horse is very sick and of course the trainers know what’s going on.

I’ve never been in a barn that was closed one day of the week.

I think it would make for a smoother operation to have 1 day closed in a larger facility. When I boarded we had set hours and if we had to leave early for a show or get in late, the owner was aware of it and was fine with it.
Our area had a string of barn/tack thefts where people would pull in at night and empty out the tack room very quickly. This was before the days when security cameras were used. Stables that boarded took barn hours very seriously.

Or they thought ahead and keep their tack in their truck

At our boarding barn next door - now sold - the arena and barn hours were from 9:00 - 9:00. If you needed to be earlier to leave for a show or clinic, that was fine - we liked to know ahead of time. No closed days but Mondays were usually extremely quiet. There was one common tack room but boarders were encouraged to have locking tack trunks.

The folks who run that barn and arena now seem to have things going on until 11:00. And someone needs to remind them that that arena is not that big and you can easily use your Outside Voice or a low setting on the headset to teach a lesson… you do not need the headset turned up LOUD. Sometimes I feel as if I am in the actual lesson with somebody - as it is loud and clear down the hill here.

Yeah, this is LK. The emphasis on “his house” was flooded so he wanted to “live in their home” really smacks of the possessiveness she always used when talking about the farmhouse.

You reminded me of elephant seals. One of my favorites as a child.
