Must admit that one crossed my mind as well.
What is it about body functions that always gets a giggle?
So now it will be known as the Bart Law Firm, PLLC.

I’m with you. I have a feeling that’s exactly where LK is going to go on that claim.
Do you suppose that Robert Guy Goodwin/Jim E Stark/Superman knows he is being thrown under the bus by Lauren Kanarek’s lawyer?
One would think after Lauren has him do her dirty work that she might give him a little respect and not do this to him.
So I may be dense and certainly IMNAL but I am not sure what bus you are suggesting he is being thrown under. I thought they were trying to get the countersuit dismissed? How is that related to RG?
One of LK’s defenses on the counterclaim re: the allegedly illegal recordings is:
Which is basically saying that MB should have named some other party to this claim.
We are just guessing that the some other party is RG that she’s going to point the finger at as the one responsible for the allegedly illegal recordings.
Which completely ignore the fact that she is the one that is disseminating things she claims are contained in the recordings to various friends, family, government agencies, and participants in online horse forums.
Isn’t that a risky move? Has the time ended for Barisone’s amending the complaint?
If it hasn’t, couldn’t Barisone’s attorneys include the boyfriend and the father as persons in the illegal recording complaint? It rather seems as if the father was privy to the situation.
The boyfriend seems as if he might be somewhat of a loose cannon, even if (as it has been posited) he is afraid of the father.
What a bizarre situation, and odd behavior from this group of people.
Again, understatement.
@ekat What do you think? Could Barisone’s attorneys say (in essence) OK you want us to bring more people in, we’ll do it?
Yep. Sure does.
Absolutely it’s risky, and as sdel noted, doesn’t really address all the elements of the complaint.
I read NJ’s rules on amending complaints and joinder of parties. What I don’t know is what info/evidence MB and his attorneys have in their pockets that would weigh in their consideration for doing that stuff. The rules exist that they could certainly ask the court to amend or add a party or both. I have no idea if they would do so.
RG is pretty judgment-proof. He’s got nothing to sue for, so it just may not be worth their time and money to argue that.
Honestly bizarre and odd sums it up well.
Maybe if the Kanareks ever get around to cooperating with discovery in this suit they started, MB and his lawyers could make a better-informed decision.
I was thinking more about the questions they could ask him that would shed light on the case, rather than recovering damages from him.
Oh, that makes sense. Sooner or later though, they may depose him. Or, they could add him to their witness list. That would be interesting.
Night Court comments. Not that I think anyone cares, but if you do here it is. I’ll keep it to one post. Consider it a lesson on arraignment reality.
Court employees enter separately from public. They don’t go through the mag if they show employee ID.
Court Officers NEVER call themselves bailiffs. I would call them bailiff to bust their chops.
It is never called Manhattan Court in court room. It is called New York County Criminal Court.
Arraignment is to enter a plea and possibly a verbal motion to dismiss or similar.
Judges don’t use their gavel often at all. If people get noisy in the court room they make whack it down hard to obtain silence. I’ve never seen the gavel used at the end of an appearance.
I did work for one judge who used a toy baby rattle when litigants or attorneys acted like juveniles LOL That judge later became a Supreme Court Justice.
Cases are done quietly. Often you can’t hear what’s going on if you’re in the audience.
Outside the courtroom via a connecting door is the clerks office. In real life it had a window counter to see the public entering from another entrance, a refrigerator and about 7 or 8 desks.
The building they show is 60 Centre Strret. It’s Supreme Court. Lower Criminal is 100 Centre Street.
Prisoners always present with multiple court officers guarding them. In my day they couldn’t be armed. That may have been changed.
There aren’t public defenders per se. There are agency attorneys. Legal Aid, 18B attorneys etc. There are multiple attorneys of each present due to case load.
Attached to the left side of the building is a thing called The Tombs. Otherwise known as the Manhattan Detention Center. A jail which holds inmates for court as well as other prisoners.
Outside the building are low hedges. Every so often you’ll see court officers digging through the bushes. All courts do this and it’s called Bush Check. It’s to locate hidden items the public stows away so they don’t get caught with it at the security magnotometers. Most often it’s drugs but knives and guns are found too.
There is a coffee stand inside the building.
There were never dead birds in the ceiling when I was there LOL
There are rats and roaches and from time to time the public brings in bed bugs.
My job was the bearded guy in the sweater.
The real courtroom is way way bigger.
The court officers are wearing their winter dress uniforms.
There is no finding of guilt. It would be set for trial and bail would be the issue then.
Missing: Judges law clerk. Spanish interpreter.
The furniture and signage is spot on accurate.
Court reporters still exist but most cases are recorded electronically. The court calender when finished captures the start and end time for each case.
Dan Fieldings dress is on point. Defense attorneys are typically unique dressers.
The court clerk is typically seated at a desk directly next to the judge.
The shield for the lady court officer should be silver unless she is a Sargeant or higher. But her jacket doesn’t have those designations and the patch on the shoulder has an incorrect pic for the seal of NY.
The court officer would NEVER interject. Security is their game along with helping move things along.
Street pigeons would definitely head for the pizza LOL But absolutely no food is allowed in court room. Water only. I had a judge so picky that even I had to disguise my coffee or soda as water.
The court clerk should be displaying his gold shield. Many are also armed. I chose not to carry. It’s a pain.
The staff would never paint. Painting is a big deal and it’s done on weekends typically by special city contractors. There’s a pallette of Benjamin Moore paint. About a choice of 6 different colors.
100 Centre St
He doesn’t seem the type that is likely to remember complicated evasions, especially when faced with questioning by a skilled attorney (if the trial is any example) and they couldn’t go at him then like they will be able to in a civil trial.
It’s creepy to think that the father is lurking on this thread…
Very interesting!
Well, he’s not banned. So he could chime in any time to address any misinformation he sees on the thread.
That’s what’s creepy. The lurking.
And yet… not a peep out of him. So all the information posted here must be correct.
