Who is Gretchen?

I made a joke earlier referencing a movie.

CH actually referenced the exact same movie (Mean Girls) in earlier Barisone threads in direct conversations with me. So I figured she would understand my joke.

But she now claims she didn’t.

So unfortunate. I think laughter helps ease tension. So I choose to make jokes.

Mean Girls is well before my time, VHM. I didn’t get either reference.

Sometimes jokes are funnier if you make them at your own expense. Particularly “jokes” about mob membership.

Don’t the moderators also send out (automatic?) PMs to the poster if the post gets flagged?

I have never gotten a notification that my post was flagged, and I have no doubt many of my posts have been flagged.

The system must have a feature for the moderation to send a notification when they edit or remove something.

The notifications happen when a post yhst was flagged for moderation actually gets edited by the mods, or taken down entirely.

I’ll admit, a few of my snarkier posts have been edited by the mods, or taken down entirely. I’m pretty sure that many other posts of mine have been flagged for moderation… but I didn’t get any notifications about it because the mods decided the posts were gone as written.

I hope that makes sense.

Oh. I distinctly remember a post calling myself and others on these forums “mean girls” and I thought you were referencing the actual movie.

It came out in 2004, so you must be far younger than I realized. For some reason I thought you alluded to being middle aged at some point, and working in the financial services industry and being in the midst of planning and saving for retirement. My mistake.

I’m glad you like my self deprecating humor. They say that people with a well developed sense of humor have higher IQs, on average.

So sorry you didn’t get the earlier ‘Gretchen’ jokes.
