Microdiscectomy recovery

So I finally got my MRI. Had an emergency bilateral microdiscectomy surgery about 36 hours after that.

Turns out the L4/L5 disc I herniated last April (!!!) never went back into place, despite my symptoms pointing towards that it did. The disc kept moving and eventually was pressing on the nerves leaving my spinal column to my lower body. I was having a lot of pain in my back, SI, and down the side of my legs to my knees. My surgeon wanted to the surgery to be done quickly as the disc was close to pressing on my main nerve column, which can lead to paralysis. No thanks. Covid restrictions also don’t help.

So I had the surgery and now am home recovering. My staples come out next week and hoping to start physio after that. My surgeon is not a talkative guy. Other than saying I will be able to get back to riding, “just not tomorrow,” I didn’t get much direction on how long it will be to get back in the saddle.

Anyone else go through this surgery? Any recovery advice?
