Midland Horse Trials (Georgia)

This is a walk down memory lane for some, NOT an advertisement. On Ebay I have found a variety of old photos from several years of the Midland Horse Trials. If you or someone you know/knew competed there “back in the day” take a look to see if you recognize the horses or the riders. Enjoy!

Did you forget a link maybe?

Just go to eBay and search for Midland Horse Trials. Thanks for the recommendation, I enjoyed the photos!

That’s what I did, and I get:

Hmmm, I don’t know what to tell you, they came up again when I just checked. Sorry

Works for me, here’s a link to a search: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1312&_nkw=midland+horse+trials&_sacat=0

I posted it in the local horse group on FB … the (former) venue is just down the road from me.

@tnscvaga and @wsmoak, thanks so much for the links. Oddly, when I click them, I get that same message I posted. I am not in the US so I wonder if that’s an issue? I didn’t think it would be for ebay but I have so little knowledge of online logistics.

It is probably just showing you results from the country you’re in. I think there is an option in Advanced Search to choose a country or perhaps search all countries.

OMG there is Mrs. Thuss. And also her husband. I don’t know anybody else. Except I am pretty sure Ann Sutton was Anne Hardaway Sutton but I never knew her.

Hahaha. That makes so much sense now that you say it. I’m really clueless about this stuff - embarrassingly so.

I am getting hits in my local currency but from sellers exclusively in the UK, Latvia, and Iceland (none of which countries I am currently in)!

I’ll try the advance search, thank you so much for the tip.

Hope that works for you. I was looking for a specific model/size in a used saddle once and figured out how to search other countries, but it’s been a while.

Yes, Ann (now Taylor) is the youngest of Ben Hardaway’s children. She rode on the 3-Day team in Seoul, 1988.

Susan O - there are two of you! Are you going to buy them? I evented there once or twice and it was a fun venue! I wonder if Do Good is the same one that was a GP jumper w/ Dennis Murphy?

No that is somebody different. I think her name is Sarah? I had one disastrous cross country round at a “B” pony club rally ( it might have been at Midland) - I think that was equivalent to Preliminary at the time. Luckily I was eliminated before I was killed. LOL! My jumping ability was about at “grasshopper” level and never got any better. Definitely not me over those fences.

I think Mr. Warner named “Do Good” so probably not the same horse. But I could be wrong.

Actually, it was Mr. Warner’s horse that Dennis had - but it was Do RIGHT! My bad.

Can’t get the link to work but I hunted with the Midland Hunt in the late 70s. Have sent several horses up to the Murphy farm in Vandiver for tune-ups!

Hope someone in the USEA office sees these - there are some gems in there including a great shot of Neal Ayer!

Do Good, wasn’t that Del Greenwood’s horse? Is that her name? That was so long ago but I remember my first unrecognized event at her farm.

And for those wondering why new fixtures don’t open when we lose one like Plantation, the Thuss’ Patchwork Farm is now high density housing and retail.
