Might be time to buy that EU horse, Euro falls below the Dollar

The euro has fallen below the dollar for the first time in nearly 20 years as the war in Ukraine pushes the single currency down . A single euro bought $0.998 on the foreign exchange market at 12:45 GMT, down by 0.4% in the day’s trading.

The euro has fallen almost 12% against the dollar since the start of the year.

Perfect- in process of buying now- lol.

Funny, my trainer mentioned this to me yesterday - in case he decides to go on a shopping trip. I pointed out to him that I actually have enough horses right now to take care of my time and checkbook. I also tried once a couple years ago to import and it had a long and very bad ending. So if its not here now, I’m not interested…But nice try on his part

And if we can’t swing importing a horse at the moment, boots might be another option!

No need - there are some phenomenal foals being produced in the US if you know where to look. :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s going to have to come way way down for me. Lol.

I’m nervous about a recession so not buying much these days.

Yeah, that is more in line with my budget. Maybe a bridle or something.

unfortunately the import costs are up quite a bit because of gas prices, but still a good deal. I bought a horse a few weeks ago, and while the euro was a bit higher, still a great deal. Now I am tack shopping on European websites

2tempe — can’t blame him for trying.

Except the increased costs for hay for an additional horse will eat up those savings in a heartbeat!

Today I just paid for the other half of my custom Celeris BOGO boots, fantastic timing!

Normally I’d say now is the time to buy, but also a time to be cautious with everything being so expensive (hay, fuel, fertilizer, feed, etc). Boots are a great idea though! I want to replace my everyday tall boots, but not sure with what.

@DoubleDown where did you buy your Celeris boots? I’ve been looking but haven’t found a good source to buy in Euros with shipping to the US. I bought a pair of Bias this spring, so I already know what size I need (but in a polo style this time).

The pound is also very low right now so it may work out in your favor still.

I ordered them directly from Celerisuk.com. I used their measurement directions, and had a zoom call.

I just found this place and tossed a pair of their sample boots in my cart to test it out. It appears that they will ship to US, VAT is removed and shipping is only 20 Euro.
