I remember how much the Queen loved this ceremony, and how she would go greet the horses. So many lovely photos of her doing just that.
I remember seeing a portrait of The Queen taken after her riding in the Trooping of the Colour. She was standing beside Burmese, the horse that she rode for almost 2 decades, and her smile was so genuine. She looked beautiful with that smile on her face and looking so fondly at her horse.
ETA: I have looked for that photograph without success as I would really like to have a copy, however no luck.
King Charles fed the horses carrots at the Trooping. His gloves got dirty, which endeared him to horse lovers. The Royal Family Facebook page has a lovely video showing the horses being groomed and washed for the event.
It’s a stark contrast though.
